City balconies at midnight are where time stands still. You think of dreams of the past and future. You think of the songs you never wrote and the person you never became. But you find peace with the fact that you are here. Watching the hospital spotlight on the distance and looking at how some of the street lamps have a different color. You think of how you got here and where you are going. If this is one balconey of many or if this is a view reserved for the grown up youth just starting out. So count how many cars drive by, watch that streetlight that is almost out flicker, and be at peace with the fact that you are on a city balconey at midnight.
