ryu jiae enjoyed christmas even though she’d sometimes be busy with schedules around that time of the year, the girl really did enjoy how people felt during this time of the year. somehow everything feels more warm even though it’s cold, a feeling of love and solidarity can be felt by almost everyone. the idol decided that this year she’d spend her free day trying to buy a tree and putting it somewhere in her company, she decided that it would be some type of present for the trainees that spent their days training and studying and barely having time for something called christmas. ‘’did you bring the white christmas balls i asked you to?’’ she asks the older male as she eyes the tree she bought earlier that day ( and where she found yichen and almost begged him to help her with the decoration ). ‘’do you think they’ll like the tree? i hope no one gets mad at me for doing this’’ jiae murmurs the last part, truly hoping no one would get mad over a beautiful giant tree in the middle of a practice room. 

they weren’t the closest yet however there was no way they wouldn’t bond over the things they had in common with time: from coming from a nice background ( meaning: rich families that have a good life ) to being both in the music field - it wasn’t a surprise to anyone that both jiae and kyuri talked with each other and could relate in some aspects of their lives. for jiae’s joy, the both of them decided to go shopping during their free time and who doesn’t enjoy buying things during christmas time? and feeling that one feeling of knowing they’re buying something for those that they love ( yes, jiae was only buying for those who didn’t give her a headache this year and there was no turning back now ). ‘’i’m late right?’’ she asks softly as she approaches the older female, her cute side almost coming out as she hopes internally that the trainee isn’t mad ( even if she was late for at least 10 minutes ). ‘’i’m sorry, hm? you must be cold, let’s go in and spend some money. do you want to get a warm drink first?’’ jiae adds with a smile. note to self: give baek kyuri extra gifts this year. 

some people say ''o natal é quando o homem quiser'' and that was what was about to happen in jiae’s room. lua, a younger trainee under another company and someone jiae decided to take under her wings even though the age gap wasn’t even that big, was about to be jiae’s first victim when it came to early christmas. not that it was too far but the idol was too excited to show the younger one the things she had bought for her. ‘’ok so i don’t know much about portugal and stuff but i decided to get you some early presents and we shall open everything together!’’ she lets out while bringing all the bags that were hidden under her bed ( because she was afraid of any of the members seeing how much money she had spent for the younger trainee ). jiae made sure to wrap everything in a pretty paper, a few things like a t-shirt saying ‘i love portugal’ and other things that she found related to the country in those bags. ‘’i tried my best and even got some sweets from your country - but shh that’s a secret. i hope i did well, you can open it. go ahead’’

honestly speaking, soojin hadn’t felt this strongly about another living creature before her deaf bundle of joy had quit literally leapt into her life almost two years ago now. ferris may have just been a dog to a lot of people, to some he was a deaf burden, but to soojin, he was the only thing she was convinced she had to live for. he was her little light in this dark hellhole of a place and he was the only thing that could comfort her on her worst days ( because god knows there were many and he was the only thing that could bring her down ). so when she had come home to discover that one of her members had left the door of their dorms open and ferris completely missing for the shared missing space, she could have sworn her entirely world had come to an abrupt halt. he was deaf, he was defenceless, he couldn’t be alone out there. how could they be so stupid as to leave the door open ? that had been the only thing she’d demanded from her stunned member before she was running out of the dorm, beginning her desperate search for the defenceless love of her life. and here she was, two hours later, tears streaming down her face as she held her beloved dog’s leash to her chest as though it would help her find him. she couldn’t help the many upon many of negative thoughts that filled her mind no matter how desperately she tried to block them out. it wasn’t the first time her voice had been useless in her attempt to call for her dog, but it was the first that she realised how terrifying the thought of him not being able to hear her was. finally sitting down on a nearby bench, soojin would let out the most pitiful sound that she had ever made in her whole twenty one years of life. the sob that ripped from her throat physically hurt the young trainee as she brought a hand up to cover her face in a weak attempt to wipe away the evidence of her crying despite the tears still falling freely. spotting a figure walking through the heavy snow, soojin would all but jump to her feet and hurry towards them, not even caring about her appearance as she breathed heavily. “i’m sorry but, have you seen a german shepherd anywhere around here ? he’s about this big, and wearing a black collar. he’s deaf and i really, really need to find him. please.”

it wasn’t something that happened everyday: seeing someone cry so much in the middle of such a bad day. jiae is the type that always checks on other, it doesn’t matter if they’re older or younger, if they’re looking sad, a little bit more down than usual, ryu jiae is always the first one to drop her ‘i joke a lot’ side and give them a worried look while asking if everything’s ok.

at first she doesn’t understand what was going on, the heavy snow and the cold that the idol was feeling was enough to make her brain too slow to actually get the situation - that until she realizes the tears that were streaming down the girl’s face, she seemed worried about something and upon hearing her question jiae’s face soon turned into a worried one. ‘’a german shepherd?’’ she asks again, to make sure she heard it well. well, unfortunately jiae wasn't the best when it came to dog breeds and that little fact made her want to hide for a few seconds. 

         he didn’t mean to seem so rude and cut off her speech about everything that was going on. truly, he hoped that it didn’t come off that! but, he was going to for sure listen again as soon as he found out what exactly that smell was that was lingering in his nostrils, making his mind linger in a cloud of curiosity.  he raises an eyebrow, before he’s nodding his head, “ah, that would make sense!” he says, with a small smile upon his lips. “yes, please!” he said, nodding. “do you want some? my treat.”

PROFILE !

sure, they were all well adapted but some things just linger, and for impressionable ones like jiae, were particularly susceptible. it’s not the first time that she’s told jiae not to look at those comments. everyone in the group suffers from them, but each deals with it differently. jiae as the youngest has it the worst.

     “ it’s not nothing, ” nina said, voice laced with disappointment. not disappointment towards the youngest member though, towards herself for not checking in more often. these things were best cut off at the root.

     “ jiae, ” the leader slid next to her member, as least intrusive as she could, “ these kinds of things, is best not thought about. ”

they had all tried to be inviting when jiae came, although it was awkward, a child practically entering their group out of nowhere, it caused tension, but not nearly enough as the public backlash on the young girl. nina had felt it was necessary to protect her. in some ways, jiae reminded nina of herself when she first arrived in south korea, arriving at the company. her family and her teachers belittled her, didn’t understand her dreams. jiae was so young, she had so much potential. it was best, not to let her be exposed to so much of the darkness in the world.

     “ you have to tell me these things, ” nina takes jiae’s hands into hers, swaddling in her palms like a baby, “ or else, how am i suppose to be your leader? ”

jiae could understand why nina was like that - after all she was the leader, the one that should be responsible for the members. by doing this the younger girl was only making her (somehow) doubt her ‘work’ as the leader, jiae knew it but she couldn’t help it. the things she saw online made her mad, sad - she promised herself multiple times that she’d stop searching and reading them but the more they are, the more she feels the need to read them, cry over them. 

‘‘i’m so sorry’‘ she looks down, her eyes on the ground - how many times did she say ‘i’m sorry’ already? and because of this situation? it felt like they were going in circles, she promises not to do it but does again and the story repeats itself until one of them grows tired. ‘‘i know i always say this but’‘ she stops, shaking her head.

they welcomed her, they made her feel at home when that wasn’t really her home from the beginning - doing things behind their backs was only making her feel bad about everything. it was a feeling that not even ryu jiae could explain. 

When Haru first arrived to South Korea, she didn’t think that she would gain so many new friends so quickly. People were much more accepting of her then she first thought they would be, and it warmed her heart. Especially Jiae. Despite the girl debuting before her, the two of them were still very, very close in age, just two months apart, and they were extremely close. Jiae was one of the first people in South Korea who accepted her with open arms, and she’d be forever grateful towards her for that. It was always nice to have a friend by her side, and she knew she’d forever be able to count on her. She glanced up from the book she’d been going over when Jiae knocked on the door. “I’ve been done for the longest time. I was just going over this language book one of the language instructors gave me.” She slammed it shut. “I’m always upf or ice cream.”

            there’s a certain smell that’s lingering in the air, filling them all around. he couldn’t put his finger on what it was. but, it was something that took his over his mind completely. was it one of his favorite sweets? or was it something completely different that he hadn’t tried before? he was completely in another zone, forgetting what exactly they were completely doing. 

“what is that?” he questioned, before his eyes are looking around. he wasn’t exactly sure if he was butting into anything that she was saying; he would at least hope not, but he would put up a stubborn fight because choi jongin was one stubborn kinda guy! “it smells sweet.. and i want it.”

miles, though a forgetful soul to his core, remembered his encounter with jiae with absolute accuracy. he was gifted with the misfortune of remembering every single embarrassing moment of his life down to the last detail, so how could he possibly forget her waving him off when he asked for a photo? and now here they stood, face-to-face, and he couldn’t help the heat he felt rising up his neck. “uh,” he met her wide-eyed gaze with an equally surprised look. “i… asked you for a photo once? …it’s no big deal, though!”
