“why wouldn’t you leave?” he was sure his voice was coming off as harsh. like he was mad. and he was…but not at her. he was mad at himself for thinking anything would be different. “i can tell you’re uncomfortable here. i don’t want to make you uncomfortable.”

the sudden touch to his wrist caused him to jump slightly. he looked over to her and nodded. “miru…” jaehui’s voice was soft. barely above a whisper at this point. “you don’t have to stay. i just wanted to see you. it was dumb of me to assume you’d want to see me too.” he moved and placed his hand on top of hers before looking into her eyes. “i had this idea that…if we saw each other we would fall for each other again and we could make things right.” he couldn’t help but let out a soft laugh as he spoke what was on his mind out loud. “it sounds so silly now that it’s out in the open..but i just really miss us.”

although miru was the one to end things between them, that didn’t mean it was any easier for her. she remembers when she first suggests that they end it, and how his tears would drop onto her hands as he asked her to stay. though she never cried in front of him, it would be a lie to say that she never cried at all over what happened between the two of them. to leave the only person that ever seemed to truly love her was devastating for miru as well, but she chose her career over love. 

so then what was she doing here? honestly, she doesn’t know the answer to that either. and she doesn’t know the answer to his question either. why isn’t she leaving? if anybody were to walk in on them, it would be over, and miru had too much to lose. or more like she had so little that losing it all would mean losing everything. does she really look that uncomfortable? she’s more anxious than anything, and she places her free hand beneath her tie, trying to hide how shaky it was from all the nerves. 

“i did want to see you,” she corrects him. not with the same intention that he had just confessed to, but jaehui was still someone she cared about. someone that popped into her head all too often whenever she was feeling down or just needed someone to talk to. miru didn’t have too many friends, and while he wasn’t technically just a friend, he was the closest one to a friend that she had. “you know you can call for me when you need me, right?” she couldn’t downright tell him that she couldn’t return his feelings though she wanted to, but she wanted to assure him that she was still here. 

by this point, she’s a little breathless. this felt like his first confession all over, and she squeezed his hand and gave him a smile, reaching up to pat his head like she used to. “i’m sorry i chose my career over you. and i’m sorry that i can’t change my mind.” her voice is firm like it was when they broke up, but she doesn’t want to lose all of this. but she also doesn’t want to lose him. “but please don’t think i wouldn’t want to be here.”

guess who just finished her last midterm!! once again, apologizes for completely disappearing, but i really needed to focus on my studies for the last two and a half weeks & it’s just been super stressful. but now i’m back! please like this post to plot, and i’ll actually hit you up this time!! below the cut, i’ll have some information on what my girls are doing & what their future plans are in case that helps!! also, it just helps me keep track!

the rumors have been floating around for a while now. with promotions going on, miru’s spent a lot of her time in the company building, practicing and trying to make sure she’s perfecting a song that she’s pretty sure she’s already perfected the moment she learned it. the fact that she had to put in time for a song like me was disappointing, but the gossip and whispers among the staff members made it a little more interesting.

to be honest, she’s a little shocked that dimensions went and acquired a company. was there really much of a benefit? except maybe snatching up that soloist who at this point is just a has-been. the new ost did her wonders, but miru’s also been caught up on all those stories about her. maybe if she manages to be as good as she had been in the past then she’ll win the hearts of the public again. it’s cases like her that makes miru think that companies are even stricter on their idols when it comes to dating. it only takes one “scandal” for everything to come tumbling down. 

the new building’s nice. with the amount of money dimensions probably spent on it, she didn’t expect any less. the money probably could have been spent on better things like 7rophy’s production value or maybe the other artists because she’s feeling a little generous. the shiny walls, and the squeaky clean floors are quite creepy at this point, and she thinks it’ll take some time to adjust. she’s spent so many years at the old building, and while this one does indeed like new, it doesn’t really feel right. at least not now. if their bathrooms are any better then miru’s certain she’ll grow fond of it.

miru’s praise makes eunah’s heart flutter. it means a lot more than she thinks the other knows to have her support. she reaches across to miru and squeezes her hand gently. as eunah’s gotten closer to the other girls over the years, she’s become much more receptive to any physical displays of affection and friendship, but it’s still rare that eunah will initiate contact like this. it always serves as a way to punctuate important things, when she wants to really get her point across.

“thank you, it’s … it’s exciting. i think i’m going to have more screentime this season too,” eunah says, bristling with pride. “i just hope it lives up to season one.”

eunah wrinkles her nose, nodding quickly in agreement with miru. she leans back on the couch. “i’m sure lux would love to hear you say that … if you stay for long enough, she’ll probably be home soon. you’re right, by the way. the beat drop feels so generic, or something. it’s not going to make us stand out. that’s what worries me.”

miru was comfortable with eunah, she really was. she considered her a friend and as group members, they worked well together. but there was something about eunah that made her a little hesitant. it mostly had to do with the fact that the two were a lot more similar than people sought them out to be. their concerns, the way they dealt with them and just their overall thought process usually overlapped, and it just gave her the chills. 

eunah’s also quite easy to read which miru thinks is a characteristic of herself as well. miru can read her like an open book so she squeezes her hand back, knowing that the gesture means a lot more because it’s coming from eunah. “i’m sure it will. a lot of people are living up to it and from what i’ve seen you practice, it seems like your part’s gotten a little bigger. must mean you did something right,” she commented. 

the mention of their new song has her crinkling her nose as well though in a different manner than eunah. “it is generic. i say we all barge into the ceo’s office and demand him to listen to us! we know what works for us best. why won’t anybody ever listen?”

jaehui remained quiet as he listened to her speak. he never realized just how much he missed hearing her voice, until it was filling the room they were in. it was always so gentle and calming to him, and even though it was filled with fear and anxiety he couldn’t help but grin as he listened.

he didn’t respond to her compliments though, and instead nodded his head toward the door. “you can leave if you want to.” his voice was quiet. “i don’t want you to feel like you have to be here to see me. i just thought it would be nice to catch up since we haven’t been in the same place at the same time in god knows how long.” he let out an uncomfortable laugh before looking down at his hands and began to pick at his fingers. “i didn’t think about it before inviting you here..i’m sorry.” he was scared to look up to her now. scared that he would look up and see her carefully moving out of the room and leaving him alone again. maybe this was a bad idea after all.

a sharp gasp left her lips at the sudden coldness on her body. miru knows that her words are saying one thing yet her body language is saying another. she completely melted into his embrace, and she was disappointed at how quickly he’s unwrapped himself from her. it’s not something she should be feeling at all, but the breath that escaped her said otherwise. almost as if she had no choice, her body was betraying her. 

if somebody else were to see their situation, they’d find it ridiculous. or more like they’d fine her ridiculous. when miru finally felt like she was getting what she deserved from the industry, she was overwhelmed. she felt like she couldn’t have two great things at once, and so it was her choice to end things. yet here she was, her eyes never leaving him even as she followed him to the couch. 

his words take her by surprise, and she sits there for a moment in contemplation. that would be the smart thing to do, and in this situation it probably would be the right thing as well. however, she already took the risk in meeting up with him. a few more minutes couldn’t hurt, right? 

“i’m not leaving,” she answered, following his gaze down to his hands. reaching over, she hesitates right before his hands and instead grabs his wrist instead, urging him to look up at her. he’s warm. jaehui’s always been warm. maybe that’s why she liked him so much. miru’s hands and feet had a tendency to always be cold, but he was just so warm all the time. “i missed... talking to you too.” she almost let the you slip, but she hopes he can read between the lines. 

“I’m going to need this arm,” Seunghyun chided gently and gave Miru an apologetic smile. He’d been in the early stages of throwing dinner together when the woman had arrived and not at the very least finishing what he’d been doing had felt wrong. “Let me finish up cooking and I’m all yours for the evening,” he promised, though he made no move to shake Miru off.

Their… friendship? Was odd. Was it a friendship? Seunghyun wasn’t all that sure. It had seemed like that at the beginning but things had been simpler back then. Things usually tended to be. But she had stayed and he’d let her and now Seunghyun found himself in the odd position of wanting to look after her but being unsure how much of it she actually needed — and how much of it was an act because being cared for was convenient. He couldn’t fault her for that, at least. There were perks to being on a good foot with a senior artist.

“Are you really bored, though, Miru-yah? Isn’t 7rophy is promoting now? I don’t want to keep you from spending your free time the way you’d like, rather than keeping me company.” He studied her expression. “I may give off the impression of a hermit but it’s not quite that bad.”

truthfully, she’s just invited herself over. there were lots of thoughts in her head especially with the comeback soon as well as the fact that she was going to have to move out of the dorms in the next month or so. she’s one of the last ones left, but she just hasn’t found the time to go apartment searching. or maybe that’s an excuse. really, she doesn’t want to leave the dorms just yet. 

“i hope you made enough for two!” she exclaims before letting go of his arm. however, she didn’t move too far away and instead continued to hover besides him. her initial intentions with seunghyun was just to get closer to someone who may prove beneficial to her career. that’s what was usually on her mind because what’s the point of having true friends in an industry like this one?

he patiently paced the floors as he waited, but it wasn’t long before she came sliding into the door. turning toward the door with a shocked look, he made sure it was her before he finally smiled. her voice was soft and gentle. like she was scared of something, it took him a bit by surprise. wouldn’t she have been excited to see him? to hug him again? because god knew jaehui was elated to see her and to hold her for a bit of time before they went their separate ways again. he shrugged lazily at her question before giving an answer, “i know people i guess.” laughing softly, he took the piece of paper from her hand and was a bit surprised when she held onto his hand. at that, jaehui felt a wave of relief come over him. maybe she was excited to see him..but just scared for other reasons.

he pulled her in for a hug and swayed there in the middle of the room with her in his arms. “i missed seeing your face in person so much.” he whispered against her head. “you look absolutely beautiful.”

this was the reason she broke up with him in the first place. with 7rophy’s rise to popularity and actually being a relevant group, she couldn’t risk being involved with someone else. especially someone like jaehui. he had fame and fans, two things that she didn’t. the risk was just too high, and with miru only starting to get a taste of real fame, she set her priorities straight. love just wasn’t worth it at the end of the day. though she never really stopped thinking about him, and the way he treated her like she mattered; a feeling that she wasn’t used to .

she lets out a gasp at the sudden pull, and before she can protest, she’s already in his arms. her arms stay frozen for a moment before she reluctantly wraps them around his neck, allowing herself to be pulled even closer from the height difference. instinctively, one of her hands travel to the back of his hair, and she’s gently stroking it before she realizes her actions. her hand drops, and she knows that she should push him away, but she can’t find any strength in herself to do so. jaehui feels comfortable, he feels protective, almost like a shelter she can rest in whenever she’s stressed. that’s what he was at once. 

“we shouldn’t be doing this.” her voice is still closer to a whisper in fear of the possibility of somebody passing by and hearing them. did she lock the door? she’s certain she did as soon as she closed it shut, but now her heart’s racing at the fact that they could be caught at any moment. would it have been worse to caught while they were dating or to be caught at this point when they’re already over? “but you look nice too. i like the new song.” though it pains her to admit it, miru’s been keeping up with his activities. “it’s better than our’s.” that part is absolutely true—hell, everything that comes out from her mouth around him is absolutely true.
