For whatever reason the undersiders don't exist so Coil's willing to pull out all the stops to get one of the bay's few independent capes on his side. He outs Sophia as a ward to Taylor and massively over exaggerates the PRTs role in her bullying. Then feeds her some slop about how he's trying to "control the bay's criminal underworld for the betterment of the city"

Obviously he's bullshitting her and will resort to kidnapping if Taylor says no, but her distrust of authority and feelings about Sophia/the PRT are enough to push her to his side (so long as he keeps up the antihero facade). That and Coil is someone who probably could get her a transfer to Arcadia.

Admittedly Taylor has only ever shown weird pseudo parental biases towards women (looking at you miss militia), but I baselessly support her running criminal errands to win the approval of the worst man in the city that only sees her as a tool/pet.

Either way Taylor Hebert is now Taylor Dallon and everyone has to deal with the consequences of that.

Taylor can’t really go back to her civilian life now that she looks completely different, has to deal with a lot of body dysmorphia and is just all around not having a good time.

New Wave has to find out about Amy going of the rails even more so than canon and also has to figure out how to approach the fact that Skitter now looks near identical to glory girl.

She has to “recharge” by returning to her older, mostly paralyzed body, which in turn starts to look more like her base Tanya state as she recharges. She can still perceive all the math and vectors, but can only make use of them in her breaker form.

how? well she triggers while fighting leviathan, and regardless of how strong tanya is (even untrained), she can't beat a fucking endbringer!

so she ends up wounded and out of commission, immediately injured to a similar point as her original body, but this time, instead of being silently condemned to death by medhall, she gets healed by panacea

IN HER BREAKER FORM (because she only calms down enough to figure out how to turn back afterwards)

... and then when she turns back, instead of returning to her old body, she looks like a japanese girl in her teens, with facial features midway between her old self and tanya

(not fully healed either, but better than before; think "ambulatory wheelchair user")

which has the upside of not outing her to the wards

Additionally a disabled Japanese girl with a grudge against the Empire who’s powers turn her white, blue-eyes and blonde raises its own questions and may have them thinking she triggered slightly before Leviathan and not during it after some consideration on their part.

...or did she get help from bonesaw (<experienced in the art of physical age regressing through surgical means) and what are the implications of this given her and brian's *history*? is it to make up for that? is brian forcefem the opposite of brian room?

She gives Brian(na) an age down to prove her point, but assumes Brian was like 20, so ended up deaging him too much so that she’s like 13. Not helped by the fact that both Laborns were bloomers so Amy thinks that she’s reversing age to like 15 but underestimates.

Amy set it to wear off after about a month, but a reform-in-progress Bonesaw* is fascinated and due to her own experiences with age kept in stasis offers to maintain Brianna’s girlhood and keep her age naturally from that point.

With Marquis as a sibling? awful. Marquis and Carol both have complexes about control, Marquis exercises it by implementing strict rules on his people and then delivering extreme punishments to those who fail to abide by them. Carol exercises control by micromanaging everything, correcting minor failures as soon as she spots them.

They both need control and that is not a recipe for good sibling dynamics. Amy herself is very judgy and prone to fall into that black and white morality (she probably has set up rules in a similar way to marquis) only her morality is probably far more visibly restrictive.

I could a see scenario in which Marquis thrives by weaving between the rules that Amy has set up around the house and in their family while Carol struggles to maintain her own (somewhat warped) version of a status quo without stepping on the toes of others. She gets shamed for failing and gets humbled when succeeding (The read I got on Amy was that she hates when people do better than her but expects them not to fail where she hasn't).

Beginning-of-story Amy is pretty middle of the road but fiercely loyal to her own rules. She's someone who uses her power to help thousands of people but hates her work. Generally seen as a kind/good person but doesn't care hugely about others and can be an asshole when it suits her. She acts out of obligation and to meet other's/her own expectations of who "panacea" needs to be, even if it's destroying her. Ultimately, a mix of good and bad held together by her own rules and the responsibility her power comes with.

Vicky is very much "do the right thing but maybe not with the most restraint or rule following". She's kind and friendly (and as a result is very popular). She's supportive of her sister and seems to be one of the most actively heroic members of New Wave. But she's also kind of prideful, impulsive, and happy to ignore rules if she thinks it's the right thing to do. Like helping the wards at the bank fight. Her lack of restraint also led to her breaking some nazi legs (based), which she covered up. Ultimately, a willfully good and friendly person who's happy to ignore the rules to do what she thinks is right, but doesn't always think things through/act rationally and can be a bit of an asshole at times.

Swap these around and you've got a kind and caring Amy who works tirelessly because she wants everyone to be ok. She's nice to everyone and beloved by all. An Amy that comes into conflict with silly restrictions like "child labour laws", and who would happily use her power in ways people don't want her to if it's for the greater good. Basically, an Amy who never sleeps because she cares too much about her patients to let them suffer, and who'd be happy to release a cure for diabetes as a biotinker plague (even if that's illegal for a very good reason).

On the flip side you have a Vicky that's generally perceived as a nice/kind person, but who's more than happy to be cruel as it suits her. Someone that doesn't really care about other people, but performs her role as glory girl to meet her own/other's expectations of what a hero is. She probably spends more time aura farming or working on her social media presence than saving people. Basically a shallow popular girl who's happy to be mean to people she doesn't like and plays the role of a teenage superhero superficially without really caring.

Vicky and Sophia accidentally letting someone getting mugged die whilst on one of their solo patrols. Sophia was waiting to see if they fought back and Vicky was distracted trying to find the best angle to film her superhero landing.

I've always thought they knew about the bullying from pretty early on. Emma's parents were active in her life in a way Taylor's dad just wasn't. I don't buy them not noticing Emma cutting Taylor out and occasionally overhearing how she'd talk about her. I don't think they knew immediately or the full extent of it, but I don't think they wanted to either.

They were happy to have her leaving her room again, grateful the problem seemed to have solved itself. They could have forced her to see a therapist, they could have given her miraculous recovery a second look, and they could have paid more attention to her changes in behavior. But why make a problem out of nothing.

Little by little they let things get worse. Emma's completely flipped on Taylor? Kid's friendships don't always last, it's no big deal. Emma's saying increasingly nasty things? Schoolyard taunting isn't the end of the world, the other students will get over it. Every step pushed out of mind by their desire to not worry or interfere.

It's hard to believe they didn't know what Emma thought of Taylor. Kids aren't nearly as subtle as they think they are, and it's impossible for them to not pick up on some of the things she said or did over the past year and a half. But hey, kids can be unpleasant and they don't need to fuss about what Emma gets up to as long as she's ok.
