Listen, I just feel there is no way the originals would let their brothers be alone with each other. OG!Shang Qinghua (I’ll come up with better names later) wouldn’t want his brother to ruin their carefully crafted reputation by associating with people as widely gossiped about as the Shen twins and Shen Jiu would think Airplane!Shang Qinghua super suspicious because “no one’s that pathetic, it has to be an act”

They also both would be very alarmed that someone wanted to talk with their brothers alone and not allow it on principle.

So the transmigrators have to A. Confirm the other is a transmigrator and B. Find out what the others changed all without their brothers getting suspicious.

Shen Qingqiu tries to be subtle, and Shang Qinghua if he’s ever read a book titled “proud immortal demon way but Shang Qinghua is so caught off guard (he thought he’d have to ask) that he starts choking, making a massive scene but at least confirming they were both transmigrators

Shang Qinghua tries to pass notes in English but neither of them are fluent anymore and they see each other so rarely that it takes months for Shen Yuan to communicate he had no idea what that note said and for them to agree to using pinyin instead.

They then switch to hiding notes on the others peak in specific places but Shen Jiu finds one and becomes determined to crack the code and find out what it says so Shen Yuan panics and tells Shang Qinghua they have to stop because if he got enough notes Shen Jiu could definitely figure it out.

They try meeting in the middle of the night but both of their siblings follow them so neither of them actually go to the meeting spot.

Things get easier when their brothers are peak lords but they also get busier. They can interact now but there are disciples everywhere and theres never a time they are both free and seperated from their brothers for more than a few minutes at a time. Shen Yuan to talk in code but Airplane doesn’t catch on so Shen Yuan straight up tells Airplane to request a day off to go on a trip on a day Shen Yuan was also off.

By the time they finally get a full conversation alone it’s been multiple years and they barely know anything about each other, not even IDs have been exchanged. They spend the whole time telling each other what they had already done and have no time to actually plan anything.

They start writing letters in pinyin because Shen Qingqiu doesn’t have the time to decipher unknown languages as a peak lord. But this time OG! Shang Qinghua finds out and gets highly suspicious.

OG! Shang Qinghua asks Shen Jiu if he knew why their brothers were writing letters in unknown languages and they end up teaming up to try and find out

he comes back to see jiu-ge very randomly. sometimes it'll only be a week or two before he gets homesick and flies back. sometimes he's so engrossed in a project, he doesn't remember to visit for a year.

(jiu-ge is very insistent that shen yuan lives his own life far away from cqm. despite missing his didi, he knows that if he stays for too long, shen yuan will like it. he will begin to form attachments because thats how he is. and yue qingyuan will smell blood in the water, will take the opportunity to never let shen yuan go - just as shen jiu was trapped by an offer too good to refuse, forever tied to yue qi's side. he refuses to let shen yuan share his fate.)

(add onto that the fact that shen jiu has many enemies who would love to exploit the fact he has a darling younger brother. yeah, he's keeping shen yuan's existence hidden and each visit is a risk.)

imagine his surprise when he visits one year and his brother says "yeah, i've taken the position of peak lord. my new title is shen qingqiu."

cue "oh fuck my brother is the scum villain"

he starts visiting a lot more, trying to change the plot to save his gege's skin. but he can't visit too much or it gets suspicious. he tries to admonish his behaviour, but his brother has always been stubborn, and refuses to listen. the day binghe gets selected, shen yuan is hiding and holding his breath. when shen jiu pours the scalding tea over his head, shen yuan wants to throw up.

they have a big fight over his treatment of binghe. shen jiu just can't understand. shen yuan thinks that what hes done is horrible, and he's too emotional to argue well, to make shen jiu see his point. they go to sleep in separate rooms.

shen yuan sneaks out of the room and looks for binghe.

while he is sleeping, shen yuan tends to his wounds and leaves medicine and a container of hot food with a heating talisman.

after the abyss, shen yuan dresses up as his brother and apologizes to binghe for all he's done in the past. his acting is superb. every facial expression, every intonation of his voice - shen yuan has practiced tirelessly. he knows binghe is not easy to fool. but nobody knows shen jiu has a brother, and he had to at least try and save his brother's skin, and if binghe is unsatisfied then at least the one who gets maimed will be him and not jiu-ge.

meanwhile, luo binghe stares at the man with the most sincere eyes he's ever seen. when shen yuan says sorry, indeed, he is sorry. the guilt is clear.

and yet.

this person is not his shizun.

luo binghe thinks back to the times he caught "shizun" leaving warm food at the woodshed. to the late nights he had caught "shizun" wandering around the peak, where "shizun" would look at him, actually look at him - not just pass his eyes over him like he was trash on the street.

to the night where he had woken up, and "shizun" was there, applying salve to the wounds he himself inflicted.

he thinks,

Older Bro Shen Jiu: this is my idiot didi, if any of you fuckers corrupt him I will bite out your throats.

Younger Bro Shen Jiu: this my idiot gege, if any of you fuckers corrupt him I will bite out your throats.

Father Shen Jiu: this is my idiot son, if any of you fuckers corrupt him I will bite out your throats.

Son Shen Jiu: this is my idiot father, if any of you fuckers corrupt him I will bite out your throats.

Shizun Shen Jiu: this is my idiot head disciple, if any of you fuckers corrupt him I will bite out your throats.

Boyfriend Shen Jiu: this is some idiot I've never met before in my life, if any of you fuckers corrupt him I will bite out your throats.

Especially because Shen Yuan is usually at least outwardly polite to people around them while Shen Jiu is actively antagonistic. So to see Shen Yuan tripping Shang Qinghua so he face plants and seeking him out to pick fights and threaten him is like catnip to Shen Jiu. He has to get in on this

Shen Jiu forgets to fight with Yue Qingyuan and Liu Qingge because he and Shen Yuan are too busy batting Shang Qinghua back and forth

Liu Qingge tries to stand up for Shang Qinghua once but Mu Qingfang is like "no wait. It's enrichment for him" and sure enough Shang Qinghua is seen grinning when the Shens can't see and also actively baiting the Shens

If they leave him alone for too long he does something that gets them showing up at An Ding to chase him around the peak

Sleepy Damian standing stubbornly standing in the corner while Bruce explain their patrol report until Dick grab him and sit him on his lap until he falls asleep because it’s comfortable there.

Damian on patrol, who didn’t sleep for 3 days getting pull down onto Jason’s lap, complaining but slowly falling asleep.

Tim noticing Damian staring at him for 30 minutes now. He is confuse at first but quickly understand that his brother is probably too shy to ask. So he just pick him up and put him to sleep.

Bruce sees all that happening and decide to try because that’s also his baby. As expected Damian complain but slowly fall asleep after a few minutes.
