Now that Iâm older and comprehend music better. The love that I have for BeyoncĂ©, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, and so many talented musicians. Going through their entire discography almost every day, it inspires me as a creative. That being said, I wish we got more content of Michael and even BeyoncĂ© breaking down the engineering of their songs/albums. Especially Michael, relooking back at interviews Iâve mindlessly seen as a kid, now watching it with a different lens. ïżŒ
There is a interview where Michael is kind of breaking down how he made a song (I canât remember which one, I think itâs from the Invincible or Bad album). Studying how he speaks with such enthusiasm, the love he pours into his work shows every single time.
The same goes with BeyoncĂ©, many of us say sheâs one of Michaelâs students, she truly is. What I donât like is when things get lost in translation and people tend to think that means BeyoncĂ© needs to be like Michael. When thatâs the very opposite, sheâs studied music, just as Michael and Janet studied music.
I could go on a lengthy discussion on why I love Michael, Janet, Jackson 5/The Jacksons. I think for me, itâs just growing up with their music and all this other stuff, itâs integral with black culture, and in a way, thatâs inexplicable in itself. But the feeling is powerful and transcends time. I know that much because of the memories my mom has told me she has of Michael, Jackson 5/The Jacksons music. The same excitement older generations have for them, is the same excitement many of us are feeling even up to now.
i wish i could have conversations with michael and his thought process on his many mini films, cause even as a kid they were so captivating.

TEN YEARS OF LEMONADE (April 23rd, 2016)đ
At its core, Lemonade explores themes of betrayal, healing, resilience, and Black womanhood. The album is widely interpreted as a journey through the emotional aftermath of infidelity in a relationship, often believed to reference BeyoncĂ©âs marriage. However, it expands beyond personal pain into a broader reflection on generational trauma, identity, and empowerment. Through different musical styles, ranging from R&B and rock to country and hip-hop, BeyoncĂ© tells a story that moves from anger and suspicion to reconciliation and self-acceptance. The accompanying film adds layers of symbolism, drawing on African American history, Southern culture, and feminist thought.
Lemonade was both a critical and commercial success. It debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and made history by having all of its tracks chart simultaneously. Critics praised it as one of the most innovative albums of its time, and it has since been included in numerous âgreatest albums of all timeâ lists. Culturally, the album had a profound impact. It sparked widespread conversations about race, feminism, and Black identity, especially in the United States. Its visual imagery, such as references to historical Black experiences and the inclusion of mothers of victims of police violence, gave it strong political weight. It also influenced how artists approach album releases, popularizing the idea of the âvisual albumâ as a cohesive storytelling format. Beyond music, Lemonade became a symbol of empowerment and artistic control, reinforcing BeyoncĂ©âs role not just as a performer but as a cultural leader shaping discussions far beyond the entertainment industry.
