Dun-titled

Battle Beyond the Sun.  “Billions of light years...” :D. Roger Corman’s revamp of “Nebo Zovyot”, with Francis Ford Coppola adding a monster fight.

Watched this the other day.  Enjoyed it - cool ship, robot, villain, etc...  Yes ma’am, please take me to Mars :)

“Mole Men Against the Son of Hercules (1961)”, with Mark Forest, Paul Wynter, and Moira Orfei, came up on Prime the other day.  Found some pictures online.  A flick my father probably went to in the theater during his teenage years. One of those so bad its good movies.  Arkoffian in a sense of appealing to teenage boys: Big boobs, beefcake, soldiers riding horses back and forth, violence and monsters.  Formula: A tribe of underground albino cursed bad guys, hero and sidekick, love interests, trials and tribulations, etc... All the characters were about as dumb as a box of rocks.  The most charismatic was an oiled up Paul Wynter, I wish they gave him better script.  For some reason I did like the costume design of the molemen. I like the varying titles in different languages, all I assume due to marketing.

My favorite Ramones song.  I remember seeing them, I think it was the Hollywood Palladium in the latter mid 80′s.  Great show.  I remember hanging out with a bunch of tough looking OG Suicidals who were really cool (I was a long haired high school kid from another town that didn’t fit in, especially with Suicidals, so appreciated they didn’t give a shit about my difference,  (I was a big fan, spinning their self-titled album a lot during the time) We left the show immediately after it ended, pretty much the first ones out.  There were shitloads of cops in formation, riot gear and all.  Almost like the were ‘expecting something’.  They started to herd people leaving the show along, causing problems.  Bottles were thrown and then people started to get beat.  I remember a squad of cops chasing a bunch of punks across Sunset avenue during the cruise.  A lot of people were pissed as punks ran over hoods of cars and stuff.  100% police fault.  We did meet Johnny Ramone on the street the next morning who invited us backstage to their ‘secret’ Whiskey show later in the month, but I couldn’t make it.  I was under 21 and couldn’t get in the venue, but he said he’d let us carry his guitar and fake we were his crew.  Still kicking myself for not doing it.
