Hello after a stupidly long time
I’ve neglected this blog for a long time and for that I’m very sorry. The last few years have been rather hellish as I’ve been grappling with mental and physical health issues, been in and out of hospital, had to put my plans to go to university on hold again and again and again (fingers crossed for September 2023) and have been thoroughly miserable through it all. I’m currently trying to claw myself out of the depths of an anorexia relapse for what feels like the millionth time and it is not fun.
Having said that it’s felt so nice to log back into this blog and see some Red Dwarf content! I just wanted to say a massive thank you for that.
Maybe one day if I’m up for it I will pick up my pen and contribute some fan art or something.
Holly Hop 2021
Hello! It’s been far too long since I’ve been on here! I have a ticket to join Holly Hop 2021 and I was wondering if anyone else was joining in and could tell me what to expect? I’ve never been to anything like it before online or in person and perhaps it’s a bit silly and irrational of me but I’m quite nervous...
P.S. It’s so good to see all the Red Dwarf content again after having neglected this account for too long!
I haven’t been on here for ages but I just watched the new Red Dwarf film and wow! I was doubtful about the idea of a feature length film but I actually really enjoyed it.
I haven’t watched Red Dwarf for a little while as life has just been getting in the way and I’ve definitely been missing it.

Merry Smegmas everyone! I hope my attempt at writing in sequins is legible enough!
*quietly emerges from the shadows to say “hello!” and post a starbug I crocheted*
It’s been a little while since I was last active on this blog as I’ve been very busy for which I can only apologise. In the meantime I’ve somehow managed to get through my A levels and am about to start studying Evolutionary Biology at university! I’m honestly terrified for what lies ahead but I’m so glad I finally got to this point.
Recently I got my A level artwork back and I thought I’d share this painting I did in one of my sketchbooks. It’s not fanart but it is a picture of space so is kind of relevant to this blog I guess...
I’m back!!! Sort of...To anyone who still actively follows this blog, sorry again for my inactivity. It’s been far too long since I made any original content. Hopefully there will be more eventually. I feel I should probably try and explain things a little but I might put this under a ‘read more’. Anyway, yesterday I was sorting out through the paperwork that’s been accumulating in my room over the past 3 years and it was a horrible job but I found this page of doodles I did ages ago and it made me smile (although I’m not entirely sure what a couple of the objects are supposed to be!) and I though maybe I should post it on here.
Happy Gazpacho Soup day!

After nearly 5 months I’ve finally done a drawing! I’m not sure if I like how it turned out but at least it’s something. I’m sorry for not having created anything in a while as I’m struggling to cope with a few things in my life right now, but I don’t want to give up on this blog. Red Dwarf is still very important to me and I’ve loved being able to get a little bit involved with the community on here (you are all amazing!)
I’m really not sure how frequently I’ll be posting from now on but I’ll still be around, and if anyone has any art requests etc., I’d be more than happy to take them. Perhaps some ideas will motivate me to draw some more.
I hope you’re all having a good day. :)
The Trouble with Flibbles
Practice Makes Perfect - Humans Are Weird
So, humans are rarely ever innately good at anything besides breathing. We have to learn how to do everything: walk, talk, eat without spilling everything everywhere because our motor skills don’t start out great. Sure, you have the prodigies, but they’re the exception, not the rule.
In order to get good at things, we practice. Walking, something which takes a lot of us over a year to learn, eventually becomes something that can be done without thinking about it. When we learn to drive, it takes a lot of focus to remember everything and pay attention to everything, but eventually it becomes almost second nature.
We have to ability to, with enough time and effort, accomplish almost anything we set or minds to. You want to do a cart wheel? Practice, you’ll get it eventually. You want to type? On a few years you won’t even have to look at the keyboard. You want to bend yourself into a human pretzel. Are you sure? Doable.
Some of us use this ability to accomplish amazing things. We are constantly innovating, constantly evolving our technology to make it better, faster, more durable. Some of us spend their lives dedicated to a singles field of study to change the world. Some of us rough it in the jungle with apes and come out being able to communicate with them and reach a brand new understanding.
And some of us spend weeks practicing flipping bottles so that we can land them the way we want to.
Aliens would probably be astounded by this behavior.
Human Alexa, a chef who can cook food from all corners of the galaxy fit for any species on the ship can also, for some bizarre reason, operate her communicator with her toes. She is the only human on board who has learned this skill, and when asked why, her response was simply “Why not?”
The human engineers, Human Alex, Human John, Human Macy and Human Chloe, spend every break they have holding bottle flipping competitions, keeping a scoreboard in the room with the tools. There is no apparent prize for winning this competition other than so called “bragging rights”, the meaning of which continues to elude everyone else on board, yet they will practice for hours just to win the next match.
Human Tracy, who works in communications, can bend her legs behind her head. When asked why she can do this, she shrugged and responded “I bet my friend that I could do it in 6 months. I got 20 bucks.”
Human Taylor, an explorer, is a “beer pong champion”. They have explained that no, this does not give them any particular advantage in combat, they just wanted to “show that one frat boy fucker in college who’s boss.”
Human David, who helps to keep the weapons on good condition, can balance 12 books on top of his head at once, “just for the hell of it.”
There have been multiple requests to include this change in the Human Manual, but no one is quite sure how to. They can’t all do the same thing, as evidenced by Human Taylor failing to balance one book on their head and Human Chloe attempting to flip a bottle and breaking a light in the process, and not every human even has a strange ability like this.
In the end, the addition to the manual basically translated to “Sometimes they can do weird things for weird reasons. Don’t question it.”
Happy towel day! Here is my secret guide entry for @spaceanets who requested Ford and Arthur being buddies. Thank you @the-entire-h2g2-fandom for organising the event!
I found a pile of Red Dwarf sketches I did a long time ago and completely forgot about so I thought, 'why not share them?' . :)
