One thing that's so underrated about PHM is Eva Stratt's appearance. She doesn't have the lipstick, sleek bun, pencil skirt (or even pantsuit), and heels look that is so often the uniform of female characters in similar roles. She doesn't wear makeup (as much as any other actor). She wears her hair down or in the simplest ten-second buns. She wears softs, easy to move in clothes that are weather appropriate. Why would she spend extra time making her physical body less efficient?

small hadestown thing I've always appreciated is that the beat of orpheus learning that eurydice "sold" herself isn't at all about him feeling betrayed or not wanting her anymore, it's just about mechanically not being able to take her with him. he doesn't blame her for any of it, he doesn't have some "you chose him over me?" moment, his love for her is unchanged. eurydice's last verse of "flowers" is about feeling ashamed for having done this to herself and leaving her partner and orpheus just doesn't care.

I love reading fanfics where one character is tagged as jealous, but their partner is unlovable to anyone but them. Like.. calm down, sweetheart, no one wants your man. We're still trying to figure out why you want your man.

project hail mary is a touching and poignant film that leaves you asking questions about humanity like, "wow what if all mainstream media was genuinely good" and "what if book adaptions actually gave a shit about the book in question" and "what if studios hired actors that could actually act, and then let them get a lil wacky with it"
