honestly though there is something very deeply and sincerely odd about making posts or google docs or entire blogs linking screenshots of every slightly questionable thing a person has ever said, sometimes stretching back to their early teenage years, and using this as a sign that they are a Deeply Bad Person and that anyone in their radius is tainted by being in their presence. like. this is abnormal behaviour, folks.

You're right. I'm sorry. I posted this out of frustration with how nonheteronormative relationships are so often singled out as perverse by society as a whole in media, but I overlooked the fact that the fandoms have had a hand in their long history of fetishizing mlm couples. I just want nonheteronormative relationships to be treated equally and respectfully, but you're right, we can't get there without having these kinds of honest discussions about the mistakes we've made.

Just a reminder that if you're disabled, neurodivergent, mentally ill or otherwise "othered" by society it's okay to just be average. Yeah I have a feeling a lot of the people who "just don't feel comfortable with the word bi" have a similar experience and thoughts as I did. The word bisexual felt too....sexual. But the solution is not to come up with new words that essentially mean the same thing. The solution is to confront why you feel that way and to get rid of your stereotypes. Fight against it, don't contribute to it.

since people are wondering, polysexual and omnisexual are very similar to pan! they both mean two (rarely more) gender attraction as well, but the distinction matters to some people so ❤

look. i don’t think my stretch marks are beautiful. i don’t think they’re tiger stripes or natural tattooos. i don’t think my acne is beautiful. i don’t think the bags under my eyes are beautiful. i just think they’re human. and i don’t think i have to be beautiful all of the time in order to be accepted and loved and sucessful. i don’t think every small detail of my outer appearence needs to be translated into prettiness.

fun fact: this POV is actually called “body neutrality” and it’s SO MUCH more accessible/realistic for a lot of people. it’s based on the idea that the way we look is the least interesting/important thing about who we are, and that our bodies are worthy of respect regardless if they fit the mold of the current beauty ideals.

Your body isn’t good because it is especially beautiful or desirable. It might be nice, but it’s far from necessary. Your body is good because it does the work that it needs to do to keep you alive. It’s the tool that you use to get around to do the things that you love. I feel that is more than enough.

Also, let men wear dresses and skirts and still be called men. Clothes aren’t gendered. Let people wear what ever they want. Trans or cis– let people wear what they want without any added rules.
