I know antisemites making excuses for the antisemitic attack in Colorado are going to focus on the attack being against a "pro-Israel event" so I'm gonna point out that
"Bring the hostages home" is hardly the anti-Palestinian position a lot of antisemites make it out to be
The victims of the bombing included children
Anyone shouting "well they shouldn't bring their kids to a pro-Israel event!" is gonna have to accept that they sound exactly like the people who defend cops shooting kids at protests. The only meaningful difference is that this attack wasn't sanctioned by the state it occurred in
Even if this had been exactly the kind of event I know the antisemites will make it out to be, you don't firebomb kids
You certainly don't lie about Jewish establishments, events, and communities to manufacture consent for firebombing Jewish kids
I know that a common rebuttal to people making excuses for a violent hate crime is "would you make the same excuse if the victims were this other group?" but I'm not going to ask that, because the people defending this hate crime would absolutely defend firebombing a march by any other marginalized group (that they're not part of themselves) as long as they can find a flimsy political justification for it. I know because I've seen them do it
