Caption: β Baltimore & Ohio Railroad E6 1411 eastbound on Train Number 6, The Capitol, at 63rd Street, Chicago, Illinois on October 10, 1965, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Within approximately six miles there were five mainline railroad stations on 63rd Street at the time of this photo. This was the middle of the five, situated at 63rd Street (the name of the station) and Oakley Avenue (2300 west), serving the B&O, C&O, and Pere Marquette. The station house was built at ground level before the tracks were elevated and a stairway led to the upper level platforms.β
