since the break up with babette, victor had doubled down on his gym time to keep himself preoccupied. even with sultan running around, the house was too quiet. with his second gym trip of the day in full swing, victor finished up his run on the treadmill and headed over towards the water station to rehydrate.
@happieststarters
flash had dropped off a student at the gym after they'd almost successfully paralleled parked. he hopped into the gym to get a gatorade out of the machine (he had a membership, sure, but he'd been meaning to cancel it for... what? four years?). that's when he saw victor over at the water station.
"hey, vic! lookin' good, man. jeez. you planning on lifting about fifty cars with your bare hands or something?" flash wasn't worried about victor-and-babette. they had broken up before, this time would be no different. they were meant to be.
"flash, flash, hundred yard dash" she breamed, giving him a big hug after he finished his bottle of water.
"they'll be the cleanest roads in the town thanks to your sweeping skills. have you ever thought of trying curling?" he could be olympic level if he applied the sweeping skills to the ice. "maybe eilonwy or carl can find you some ice packs for your arms. it might help stop your muscles from screaming at you." she smiled "i'm good, helping out where i can. how are you?"
flash grinned even wider when ellie pulled him into a big hug. if anything could heal the whole world, it was ellie frederickson's hugs. "aw, you're too kind. do you think they'll put up posters of me after? posing with the broom? i think i could really work that campaign. i can't say that i have... but you know me, i'm down to clown. i'll have to stop by the ice rink some time and see what the vibe's like."
flash chuckled then, and definitely didn't blush at the mention of eilonwy (although, carl was cool too, of course!). "i think that's a very sensible idea, thank you. that's awesome, i knew you would be. i'm all gravy, baby! everything is a-okay."
Flash(back): Valentine's Day (February 14th 2026)
Flash had been volunteering at the hospital as usual, but this time he was busy delivering candygrams to patients. Dressing up as Cupid wasn't exactly what you'd call appropriate for a hospital given the lack of canonical pants. So, instead, he just had the halo, wings and little plastic bow-and-arrow. He wasn't doing this one totally out of the goodness of his heart. Flash knew that Eilonwy was going to be working through the night and there was no way she was going to be free before the day ticked over to February 15th. Hence, the improvising.
One of his favourite nurses had clued him into when she was taking her break, and he waited patiently in the hall for her to come out. Armed with love's arrow and jello cup, he grinned brightly when he saw her. Eilonwy was a very busy and important doctor, you know. He was happy to have any time with her, stolen or otherwise. "Roses are red, violets are blue, will you choo-choo-choose to share some jello with this fool?" @eilonwy-pelydryn
"flash, you really know how to make a woman feel special." she smiled, hugging him tightly in return "always so charming, you're adorable." she said, booping him on the nose and turning to get the flowers in a vase "so fill me in, whats the four one one?"
"ah, you make it easy for me. c'mon now, you can't have me blushing already," he chuckled as she booped! his nose. "where to begin? i mean, the big 3 i guess... weddings, funerals and birthdays. tina and james finally tied the knot but, ah, honeymoon got cut short. touch wood, we all still live to fight another day - including speedy, the little turtle that could. and as for birthdays, this town still hasn't recovered from that rager lilo pelekai threw for her 21st. sometimes, late at night, you can still hear nani screaming bloody murder into the night. but anyway, enough about that, what about you? how the heck have you been?"

EVAN HAWKINS & VIOLET MIKAMI CHICAGO FIRE | 10.12
@eilonwy-pelydryn
"welcome flowers? for me? thank you, that's so kind of you. it's been an interesting arrival to town. I didn't realise a big storm had hit, i hope everyone is okay"
@happieststarters
"only the best for you, miss hollywood," flash greeted with a wide grin, pulling bow into a tight hug. "nah, we're all good. it was just a little rain... and howling winds... no big deal. you must have brought the sunshine back with you."
with carl at the hospital on shift, ellie took to the streets with dug to help join in the community efforts of cleaning up any debris after the high winds from halloween that had whipped through the town looking for trouble.
opting to help hand out supplies for anyone needing any to go about their day, ellie bagged up some essentials and set it to the sight, repeating the process
"hi, please take a bag for whatever you need"
@happieststarters
"oh, ellie-bo-bestie... you're a lifesaver as always," flash greeted with a big grin, taking this opportunity to glug down an entire bottle of water.
phew, what a day!
"i feel like i've been sweeping for about five hundred years, and not a day less. i feel like i've uncovered parts of this town i didn't even know were there before. i feel like... my arms might fall off, lowkey. how are you doin'?"
"You look like you have a good eye for this sort of thing," Sunny called out, flagging down the person closest by. "Tell me, which of these trees would you say best embodies the spirit of Christmas?"
@happieststarters
"Oh, what an awesome question! You totally came to the right guy. Let me, like, feel out their vibes here-," Flash started, giving a very serious look over their selection. "Mm... this one is giving me something, but might be a little on the shedding side. This one, though, woah. Listen close, and it's practically singing Wham!'s 'Last Christmas'."

It was evident that the 'vibes' had definitely changed, that was for sure. Still, even if Sally didn't want to end up encouraging any panic to spread, she had to admit that she thought these circumstances deserved to be taken seriously, even if no one was hurt. Freak storms like this one didn't just happen... Did they? Or was she just overreacting, if at least just in her mind?
"Yes... Yes, I'm okay," she said, hoping she sounded convincing. "Thank you for remaining level-headed, that is very much needed during sudden emergencies." Even if no one was hurt, the fact that they needed to stay indoors to be safe was surely going to continue causing some anxiety in the guests, at least until they were allowed to leave. And, of course, the fact that there was no signal would definitely make several people start getting even antsier.
Flash felt like he'd blinked between catching up with Sally at the start of the night versus now. How quickly things seemed to go wrong in this town, huh? At least this time it was just freaky weather, that much they could handle. He looked Sally over as she replied, wondering if she really was okay. "Oh, I'm just under-serious. Cool as a cucumber. A serial under-reactor. But, uh, yeah... Happy to help wherever I can, Sally. Are you sure you're alright? I can get you some water or something, if you want?"
.
Sally chuckled, glad to know that at least some people at the Town Hall party still had a sense of humor about this whole situation. She picked up a canapé and actually took a moment to properly taste it, realizing she was quite right.
"Ah, thank you. Yes, I made it, of course... Though I'm a bit dissatisfied with it. Still, I guess it does the trick." It was hard to keep up her ambitious creativity when she was too busy juggling with worries about work, family and personal life. "And, um... What might you be?" Some character from a movie? A meme of sorts? Sally couldn't quite recognize it.
"Dissatisfied? No way, man. You look so cool, it's unreal. If they were giving out prizes for best dressed, you'd have to take 'em all home. The talent is, like, wow!" Flash mimicked his mind exploding with his hands to emphasise his point. He chuckled at her question, shrugging in response. Totally fair enough, huh? "I'm a Marg enthusiast. Specifically, the Margarita Man from Jurassic Park. World. A man with his priorities in check even when the place is crashing down and dinos are out for blood. Y'know?"
Kronk instinctively leaned in slightly when the other lowered his voice, nodding. "Right... the poison..." he whispered back. Of course; were they worried they caught the wrong person? Surely that couldn't be the case... "I suppose they are all taking their roles very seriously." At the proposal of alcohol, Kronk thought for a moment, before agreeing. "Sure, why not?"
"I'm uh, not sure I get the costume reference. Care to enlighten me?"
"The margs definitely take the edge off, but unfortunately, these particular Men In Black aren't down to clown. More for us, huh?" Flash was determined to have at least one margarita in his hand at all times, for the sake of the costume. The bartender was either going to love him or hate him by the end of the night.
"Oh, absolutely! Picture this... You're on a family vacay at the coolest resort in town, 'Jurassic Park'. Nothing can go wrong, surely. But by god, when it does, you're not going to let the dinosaurs stop you from having a good time. So, while the place is crumbling, you grab the two most important things. The margs. I'm that guy. The Margarita Man."
@happieststarters
Sally had been having a bad feeling --a sense of doom, of impending catastrophe --all throughout the event at Town Hall; she hadn't quite expected, with the clear skies over Redwood Hollow, for that threat to materialize as a storm. In a sense, even if, of course, it ruined the Halloween event completely with the fierce winds and the violent rain, there was a slight relief from Sally's part. At least nobody seemed to be hurt, not yet. At least it wasn't a disappearance, or a poisoning. One could almost believe this was a completely random instance of bad luck.
"Excuse me, has someone been hurt right now?" she asked out loud to the crowd, once everyone was gathered inside Town Hall. "I ask that you please remain calm while we try to contact someone for help." She knew the building somewhat well, and the tree blocking the main entrance did present a bit of trouble. There were the emergency exits, though, and at least one had to work, once the storm was over. Of course, the situation was pretty bad, and yet Sally somehow found a strength and a will to make sure this only remained a bad weather scare.
"Not physically, Sal. Just the vibes have taken a bit of a dip here, you know? I think the best thing to do is stay inside until this thing blows over - literally and figuratively. I mean, once everyone stops freaking out - totally valid - you could put the playlist back on and let the good times roll. Respectfully, of course," he added for good measure. "Are you doing okay?"
LABUBU PARTY ANIMAL
"Come do the Labubu dance with me, its a party so we gotta boogie!" Heilan said in his blue Labubu costume, one thing was for certain, the man was ready to party.
@happieststarters
"Oh, I think you mean... la-bu-gie," Flash grinned, sliding his way onto the dancefloor. Whether or not he was doing the right thing, was totally up for debate, but man was he enthused!

The excess of security was a bit unsettling, but Flynn had to admit that he was used to being under the watchful eye of security. They were not there for him this time, of course, and he really should not be entertaining the notion of putting their attention on him. But at the same time, his old habits made him see the security as a challenge, and he could not help wondering just how thorough they would be.
"So do you think if someone tried to have a go at TP-ing the outside of the building, they'd be on top of that?" he mused to the person beside him, "I mean, totally hypothetically, of course."
"The guy with the deeply dedicated frown would forsure tackle anyone to the ground. There'd be toilet roll everywhere, we'd be fighting our way out of here. Then again, his partner in crime there - Smiley, is how I like to think of him - is giving a much less drastic vibe. I think they'd be down to clown, truth be told," Flash answered, gesturing towards two of the security guards. "Hypothetically, of course."
Kronk felt a little intimidated when he was going through the metal detectors before being allowed into the town hall. He understood the extra precaution, of course, but to be gawked at so suspiciously like he was already a suspect... well that didn't feel too good. "Anyone else get a strange feeling about the party this year?"
@happieststarters
"The vibes are a little gnarly, it's true. I think we're all just feeling the chill from the whole-," he lowered his voice to whisper- "Poisoning, thing. That and none of these security guys have dressed up. They're not even wearing a smile, or a cape. Give it time, though. Margarita?"
