words I wish I wrote

I NEED YOUR HANDS IN MINE,

it’s the closest I can get to the sun. I want you to recite your favourite poem

for us, or in other terms, I want you to say love. I want your mouth to taste of it.

If you’d let me, I’d drink your words all night long. I want to stand in the kitchen

with you, after dinner, washing the dishes & talking about the day we had, before

we watch something on the tv, half paying attention & half to our phones. I want

to stretch these moments out to fill a lifetime. I want the days where we barely speak

because there’s nothing to say but we’re still arm’s length away. I want the days where

there are no moments of silence, because there’s so much to say & everything in between.
