Fine Things Well

I don't know, there's just something that hits different about explicit queer rep baked into a show, you know? When queerness isn't an afterthought. When queerness can't be removed from the story without changing the story. When it isn't added in after the fact. I do not say this from a place of pitting shows against each other; I know a lot of creators have been fighting tooth and nail for any scrap of queer rep. I just think this is why we're all so feral for Our Flag Means Death.

When Ed met Stede, this was probably the first time in ages that he wasn’t immediately recognized as Blackbeard, as larger than life and incredibly dangerous. So from the start he was able to be himself with Stede. They both had their guard down when their relationship started.

I've said it before but I love stede so much. this stupid little man has bewitched my body and soul with his dorky ass and beautiful eyes and kind heart and...I just love him so much.

Izzy telling Stede 'it's Blackbeard not Ed you dog' in the same episode as him calling Blackbeard 'Edward' ??? hmm 🤔
