“Asshat? Now that’s just mean. You’re the one who abandoned me forever ago!” He said before quickly snatching one of the cookies with a grin. “Nope, you can’t just run away from me then show up years later only to steal my fortune!”

"But accurate. I didn't abandon you, I wanted to leave a note but I didn't have a chance to." She admitted weakly, Ingrid had felt guilty ever since but she did what she had to. "I didn't run away from you, and hey now! Maybe that was meant to be my fortune."

“I like the way you think. Let’s do it.”

"Brilliant, and let's not only limit ourselves to puppies, because I was hoping to get a new hedgehog."

“You know what, do it. I’m in full support of this, I’ll even help you string together the flowers.”

"Perfect, sounds like a plan to me. Should I use fake flowers or real ones?"

“You legit just have to say ‘I got it from my Grandma’, and boom! Problem solved.”

"True, you make everything sound so much simpler than I make it out to be. I need to stop."

“Because that’s your skin tone, not mine.”

"I don't think that's what people will focus on."

“What do you mean?”

"Oh, not too long ago, my grandmother taught here part-time and she definitely left her mark."

"Asshat, that means I can go enjoy all this Chinese food on my own, right?" Ingrid joked, reaching for both the fortune cookies. "And steal your fortune."

“I don’t even know, too much vodka?” He suggested.

"I don't think it's just vodka, there has to be something else she puts in it. Do you think we should force her to take a drug test?"

“You and me both.” He sighed, going to sit next to her. “I feel like I should be relieved, but I’m not, and I don’t know why. That bitch put us through hell.”

"Every time I start to feel happy about it, I get a hint of guilt," she frowned. "I guess this just means we're better people than her. She did, but she was still the reason we’re here.”
