hi!! i’m crocheting chibi jmart currently and am slightly stuck on martins hair right now so i was curious on how you did yours?
Yes!! So I start everyone's hair with a wig cap, which is just the same as the first however many rows of their head pattern. I tend to stitch mine on before I start on the hair itself, so I can see how the hair sits around the face as I work. For curls, I just start from the edge of the wig cap, chain out the right amount for the length hair I want (I think Martin's was 6 out?? But I usually wing it and experiment, lol), and then come back towards the wig cap doing two sc stitches into only one of the loops in each chain. It makes super cool ringlets! Different numbers of sc stitches into each chain will give you different curl shapes too, so you can play around and get an idea of what's possible. Then I just sc over to where I want the next curl to sit, rinse and repeat. I did all but the white patch in one go, no sewing or tying off until the end. 😀
