also as someone who has lived their entire life with a medical special interest, finding dilemmas in writing a Sickfic type thing in a time period before huge advances in medicine actually makes me feel so sad because i think “oh surely there was a way they found to solve [specific issue] without modern medicine?” and a lot of the time it’s like. actually no they didn’t :(
