I always find it so confusing when people dismiss queer readings of Sam and Frodo and swear this is just "very good friendship" or, even less, just sevitude or duty.
Like oh Sam didn't do anything for Frodo in those books, obviously. He had just went to him to the Hell on Earth on foot unprompted, said Frodo wouldn't go anywhere without him, woved to follow him to the moon, cuddled with him night upon the quest, slept with his hand in Frodo's in Mordor, kissed his forehead to wake him up, gave him his cape and clothing for softer sleep, waxed poetic about his beauty and light, compared Frodo's beauty to the one of the elves, hold his hand ALL the time during three nights and a day in Rivendell, requested the Fellowship stops when he saw Frodo is getting ill because of his wound, went after him even when asked to stay like a meter away, said he loves Frodo TWICE in one paragraph, thought of him and only him through the whole Quest, supported him when he stumbled and took breaks when the Ring became too heavy, asked Frodo to sleep on his lap and laid hands on his body, held his hand through Shelob's lair, wounded a fucking DEMON-GOD out of vengeance for Frodo and remained the only being ALIVE OR DEAD to ever do that, cradled his presumably dead body to what felt like hours and lost the count of time, claimed himself as Frodo's Sam multiple times, said to not ever go where Sam can't follow him, couldn't let go of his hand even when the safety of the universe was at stake, compared Frodo dying to mountains collapsing and the world falling apart, called Frodo all his world, chose Frodo's dead body over the safety of the universe, said if he had one wish he would spend it on seeing Frodo again, said his place is by mr. Frodo, proposed to die for him multiple times unprovoked, sang a song to him to find him just like Luthien did to Beren, comforted him at the most painful time of his life, gave him his last food and drink, carried him up the volcano and thought it to be the easiest burden he ever carried, was grateful to be with Frodo at what the thought were the last seconds of his life, said he is waiting to follow him years after his departure, only finished a couple pages of the book and didn't write anything else as if his life after Frodo's departure isn't that important, heard the Sea calling him after those same years, called his first-born son after him and let him name his first-born daughter, cried over his departure and stayed at the shore until the sun set and Pip and Merry made him go AND went after him at more than 90 years of age, choosing to die next to Frodo instead of staying with his children and be buried next to his wife. Nothing to look at here at all.
