Welp, it's been a while and I forgot some of my initial thoughts about BY15 after the whole fiasco blew over (I thought it was pretty good actually, Devsisters firing off all of the Chevrov's guns they had in place. There is a reblog somewhere about how their storytelling method works and it's by implying a lot of things over and over again before making something out of those implications)

Let's just get one thing out of the way first. I knew since January (or whenever I started making a bingo board with friends about things that would happen in the war) that she was going to die given how her Awakened form voicelines sounded very ominous, so when it happened I was like eh OK sure. Stared at the scene dry eyed.

I think it's important to address the fact that White Lily wanted to live. It was implied in her scenes with Pastry, and confirmed in her letters to her friends. While yes Pure Vanilla was given the opportunity to grieve in the story via animation and cutscenes, he was the one closest to her given their Academy days thus it makes sense that he would be the one to have stronger feelings about it. Plus, the other Ancients are also allowed to reflect on their feelings about it, with the most prominent one being Golden Cheese in the letters. Whatever she did, it was not a message that freedom = suicide or whatever the fuck the fandom came up with during that time. It was a plan she came up with for the sake of taking accountability for creating DEC, and because they were one and the same, she paid the price for it.

So to me, her death is sad yea, if the circumstances were different then maybe she might have lived but it is what it is.

I'm surprised no one talks more about Silent Salt's more blatant suicide idealation. BY12 is him putting White Lily through these trials and he only comes around to her in the end because he sees her as the ideal candidate to represent Freedom, and not because he values her as a person. ('I kneel to you, O Freedom') Again, I could go on and on about how Silent Salt is constantly dehumanising himself and the other Divine Emissaries, seeing them as their Virtues only and not as people and how he's applying that mindset to White Lily too but that's another yap for another day. My point is, he sees her death as atonement for her sins and. That's actually fucked up. And I need more people to realise that.

So no. I don't think her death in BY15 is misogynistic given the other Beasts and Silent Salt deciding to kill himself. It's a matter of circumstance and wishing that there was another way but sadly this is the best way forward kind of thing.

Ah yes. The plot device that turns your desires into a twisted, more destructive version (Bspice's ideal) and Shadow Milk is the face of it right now. You aren't slick, Cookie Run.

I... personally don't care about the dragons and legendaries (they already had their stories in Ovenbreak so it's like whatever. Longan Dragon hype with the dragon orb stuff in the new story... cool. I just can't be bothered to care.)
