Gosh. I think Gem is pretty worn out after her ordeal, her heats are usually a lot more suppressed and she's never spent one with a mate before. She and Grian are obsessed with each other though, so they're still kind of all over each other in the aftermath.
I think maybe they get a little tiny bit shy immediately after arriving at the Airbnb, with their friends and with each other, despite everything they've just done. Tango pointing out that they smell like each other (and like sex pheromones) probably embarrassed them a little, but it simultaneously made Grian a bit crazy at the thought that Tango could tell what they'd been doing (as if it wasn't obvious lol). The longer Grian spends off his blockers, the more his Alpha instincts are kicking in. He spends the rest of the trip trying to subtly scent Gem, because he gets even more embarrassed when people point out what he's doing. But he still very much wants it known that he's marking his territory. It's complicated! The other Alphas don't bother him, he doesn't feel threatened and there's no posturing, he's just Feeling It. Because of the way he's acting, there's some private discussion between the other Hermits about whether or not Grian will go into Rut at some point during the rest of the trip, but he doesn't. There's also some eye rolling from the ones who Don't Get It (mostly betas).
