Been a hot second since I did one of these. I've filled 9 of the 14 Gemtho Fortnight prompts so far, so it's on track for sharing in July! This is a snippet from a prompt for soulmates...save me S9 Gemtho sparring session!!
βEtho,β she says again, moving her arm to try to free herself, and when he fails to let her go, she does the only thing she can think of.
If his health is low enough, with just a hit or two, she can send him back to spawn, away from her.
She draws back her unpinned hand, curling her fingers into a fist before punching him squarely in the jaw.
The weight over her lifts immediately, her plan working, except that itβs followed immediately after by pain blossoming across her own jaw and then the familiar weightless sensation that comes with respawning.
For a second, she wonders if she hit herself in the process, but when she blinks, she finds herself balanced on top of Etho, both of them having respawned in the same bed.
He stares at her with a worse expression than before, and when he abruptly sits up, she tumbles straight off of him, off the bed, and onto the grass below.
βOuch!β she complains, holding her shoulder, which hurts the most, and he mimics her pose, touching his own shoulder.
βGem,β he says, tone regretful. βWhat have you done?β
βWhat have I done?β she fires back. βYouβre the one who β β
Who took his gloves off, who touched her bare skin and now has her panicking that he's awoken something that she was happy to leave dormant.
βIβve felt this before,β Etho tells her, and Gemβs all too aware.
She heard about those who left the server for a few weeks, the soulmates who were only temporarily soulmates. Etho had been one of them.
βWeβre not β β Gem says, shaking her head, because she canβt be real soulmates with Etho.
He isnβt β sheβs not β
βNo,β she says with feeling.
