My mother's favorite song of all time was "Begin the Beguine" and her favorite singer of all time was Tom Jones. In searching around one day, I was amazed to discover that Tom did a rendition of "Begin the Beguine" (and it's really good!). So I burned it to a CD with other of his greatest hits to play for her.
The next time I was driving Mom around on errands, I told her I had a surprise for her and hit "play" on the CD I'd created. She couldn't believe it! And when the song gets to the point around 1:56 where Tom really starts to belt it out, Mom gave such a exultant whoop of pure joy that it is one of my very favorite memories of her.
Anyway. It would have been Mom's birthday today. She died 6 years ago, but started fading into dementia about 10 years ago. I played this song for her 'til the very end.

Here's Van Heflin in "Fear is the Chain," which aired Feb. 19, 1968, on NBC-TV. It was part of the "The Danny Thomas Hour," which ran 22 episodes in the 1967-68 TV season. Thomas hosted the dramatic offerings and starred in the comedic and musical/variety installments.
"Fear is the Chain" co-starred German actor Horst Buchholz in his first TV appearance and Swedish actress May Britt in her first screen role in the eight years since marrying Sammy Davis Jr.
It also was Van's first dramatic TV role since he appeared on an episode of "The Dick Powell Theatre" in 1961. The Dick Powell and Danny Thomas shows were both produced by Aaron Spelling.
At about the same time, Van was preparing for a bigger TV appearance, reprising his acclaimed theater role in "A Case of Libel." The ABC-TV broadcast on Feb. 11, 1968, earned Van an Emmy nomination.
