when mr. e would warn her about the creatures that wondered at night , she thought they were just silly tales to scare her into obeying curfew . she never had a reason to doubt him ? but , if she had to count how many times she had bumped into one herself . . she wouldn't even be able to utter a number . despite that , she was always home before dark . always . no matter what . all she knew was the warmth of the sun .
most of her days were simple . whether that was tending to things across the ranch or testing herself on spells she should know within her grimoire . yeah , i guess you could call her a witch . from the runes carved into the wooden posts surrounding the ranch to the herbs hung up in her cabin . . she couldn't be safer than that .
especially with michael , sam , and lucy there at the ranch . mr . e became more lenient when it came to being out past sunset , as long as she was under the boys' protection . she knew and believed they'd never let anything happen to her .

she's conflicted . a strange feeling that she can't get rid of . she's become the very thing she's spent her whole life being protected from . memorizing protective incantations like prayers . . she did everything mr . e told her to do . and somehow , she still ended up there . all the signs were there . even with michael . and she completely ignored them . .
there's a constant ache in her gums , to the point it's almost unbearable . then there's this awful type of thirst in the back of her throat . like an intense dryness n' heat , almost relatable to hunger . she feels it even worse in the pit of her stomach . so much so that it's beginning to become painful . and don't get her started on all her senses . she could hear everything . i mean , everything . she could smell things so . . clearly ? let alone , see things so clearly .
she couldn't believe what had just become her reality . she used to beg mr. e to experience the night life of santa carla . even just to watch the sunset or sunrise at the beach . but now ? she's hiding away , waiting for it to disappear . . worst of all , david says her condition will only get worse if she fails to fulfill the transition . but she couldn't . how could she ?
