I'm sat on the back step with PenPen and I've just seen a hummingbird hawk moth stop to drink some nectar!!!
Genuinely thought "... it's hot enough for hummingbirds now??" before I realised it was a moth.
Anyway, turns out there were only 8 UK sightings of them in 2021, but there's been a lot more this year (obvs climate change is bad but if I'm having to endure it I'm at least going to enjoy the beauty of the new creatures coming to visit)

Here's something very German i've been thinking about:
The term Bonze (derogatory term describing a rich and/or affluent person, frequently used as a prefix i.e. "Bonzenschule" ≈ private school, "Bonzenkinder" ≈ rich kids) and the term Kanake (pejorative term for brown immigrants, sometimes used as a term of endearment/self identification among immigrants) are of Japanese and Hawaiian origin respectively.
They borrowed normal terms which mean "monk" and "person" from two separate archipelagos on the other side of the globe and turned them into epithets. lol. lmao even.
My point being, I think it's amazing that words can travel this far. Word sure gets around. Word has done a decent world tour. mfw an epithet is more well travelled than me.
as fate would have it it got cloudy just around the peak but i got some decent shots
also take a look at my opera-glasses-esque contraption (i wear huge glasses so the normal eclipse glasses are a little cumbersome over them. and taking my prescription glasses off means i get a blurry view, so i improvised something out of two filters meant for phone cameras and a pencil)
eclipse watch was lovely, i met my neighbor on my way there and gave her my surplus eclipse glasses cus she didn't have any. first we were at the train station then i went down to the river bank. people were having picnics, drinking beer, staring into the sun... fabulous weather for it, and a really nice sunset to boot!

It's statistics and data analysis time at TKU! For a bit of fun, I thought I'd test out the hypothesis I made forever ago in this post, namely:
There's for sure an inverse correlation between the quality of the film and the state of Key's hair, make up and costuming.
This was a v popular talking point for lockdown era Timblr, especially after this bts photo dropped
(because it was lockdown and we were all very lonely and horny and the man had his lovely knees out!) Anyway, we all put ourselves through this awful film just for further knee glimpses, and the hypothesis was born!

This chart is intended to be very silly and is entirely based on my own likes/dislikes in the TK back catalogue. Points to consider:
There are no entries in the shit quality film / shit costume category, although Aitken from Stag scraped through on a technicality (the film also has Reece Shearsmith in it so it got an extra point!)
By and large I think Timmy is treated well by costume/make up, and I'm more likely to be upset when they shave his beard off (we do not talk about the witchfinder goatee in this house)
Tim Key does a lot better out of wardrobe/make up when the projects involve his pals (Gap Year was written by Basmos, Wonderdate he did himself, The Horne Section TV Show was obvs Alex, and The Ballad of Wallis Island was him and Basmos again and featured the unforgettable whale cardigan!!!)
I'd forgotten about him playing the train driver in The Train and got jumpscared by the bald cap again!
Overall, the original hypothesis has far too many outliers to be considered true, and science prevails!
