Depending on what exactly you mean by, "if that's how hypnotism actually works", yes, it is ^^

hypnosis is many things, but in the context of being given triggers that provoke a certain response, its essentially just subconscious conditioning. You're calming down your subject and putting them in a suggestible state, so that you can condition them to respond in certain ways to certain input. How effective it is depends on the individual subject, how willing they, and their mind are to follow those subconscious directions, how susceptible they are to hypnosis, and how experienced the hypnotist is.

When functioning as intended, hypno triggers will work on the subject without any conscious thought necessary

So in that sense, yes, that is how hypnotism works ^^

And, having ADHD is absolutely an important thing to consider, but it absolutely won't prevent you from being hypnotized ^^
