Hellblazer #61
ENTRY 661
This is one of the first pagan pride flags that I’ve seen and I immediately loved it as soon as I saw it. Ever since the beginning of my spiritual journey, I always felt fascinated by and drawn toward Celtic pagan symbols such as the triskele, which is the symbol featured on this flag.
The triskele, also known as the triskelion, is a symbol with deep roots and ties to Celtic pagan traditions. Despite its deep roots and ties, its historical origins actually predate back to ancient, pre-Celtic Neolithic Europe. Interesting!
The triskele features three interlocking spirals that emanate from its center point, which represents rotational symmetry and movement in the forward motion.
In Celtic and Neo-Pagan traditions, it represents the sacred number three.
One common meaning of its sacred number includes the triple domains: land, sea, and sky. There is also the meaning revolved around of the cycle of life: birth, life itself, and death. Saving the best for last, the triskele’s sacred number is also associated with the Triple Goddess: Maiden, Mother, and Crone. A good example may be the Celtic goddess known as The Morrigan, who is often referred to and thought of as a Triple Goddess. But the reason I favored this meaning more than the others is because of Queen Hekate, who is a Triple Goddess as well. Her origins are different than that of The Morrigan, but a powerful and revered Triple Goddess all the same.
I still have more to learn about, but I wanted to share this anyway. More thoughts later.

.
The triskelion is one of the oldest known spiritual symbols. It has been seen in grave goods, on miscellaneous jewelry and sculpture, as well as cave drawings, all dating back to the Neolithic period.
The triskelion is Celtic; it is featured in Irish mythology and is associated with Manannan mac Lir and Lugh. It is believed to give strength and is linked to craftsmanship.
Believed to give protection, the triskelion is still used as an amulet for balance, and it’s thought to ward off negative energy. This could be curses and hexes or depression and nightmares or a host of other possibilities.
Symbolic of motion, the triskelion is associated with continuous motion, evolution, forward momentum, and progress. If someone were to feel stuck, they can try wearing a triskelion to help move things along.
Sometimes the triskelion can be associated with the sun and solar movement or energy. This also ties it back to the god Lugh.
Looking at the triskelion three is definitely there. It is associated with a lot of triple powers. The Triple Goddess: maiden, mother, crone or youth, fertility, wisdom; the Three Realms: land, sea, sky; along with a host of others: life, death, rebirth; past, present, future; mind, body, spirit; creation, preservation, destruction; etc.

The deeper you dive into the world of numismatics, the more you encounter striking similarities among diverse ideas—despite vast distances and differing mythologies. Yet beyond that, many concepts never truly disappeared from human thought, for they were carefully considered and deliberately chosen at the time of their creation. for example look at the stater of PAMPHYLIA, Aspendos. Circa 465-430 BC. AR (10.92 g,). Depicts Warrior advancing right, holding shield and spear / Triskeles; EΣ above; all within incuse square. And Reverse emphasizes Triskeles idea And after 2183 years same idea depicted on Isle of Man 1733 Halfpenny Silver Proof with a plain interior of the cap and a plain edge is a rare numismatic variety from the second Derby coinage under James Stanley, 10th Earl of Derby.
* Obverse: Features the Stanley family crest (an eagle over a child in a wicker basket) atop a "cap of maintenance" with a plain interior. It includes the legend "SANS CHANGER" and the date 1733.
* Reverse: Shows the Manx triskeles (three legs) with the initials "I D" and the value "½" between them. The legend reads "QUOCUNQUE JECERIS STABIT".
