so this is my main now

and one thing that the universe agree on is that the world needs both of them

like with jack abbot fics we get so many references, mentions, or in details on him being in, aftermath of being, and before the military

and like i get why. all we get with eddie and his military past is 'he has a sliver star' and 'he was a hero for saving all his friends and being brave while being underfire.' compare to abbot who deadass is proud and loud about being a vet

and like either the writers just toss this lore on eddie and decide to just not doing anything about it, or eddie is one of those vets who isn't exactly proud and loud about serving. he's the opposite. he doesn't want to remember the shit he went through or had to do cuz he was following orders. he likes the man he became after the military. which in my opinion kinda shows this

which deadass i like that idea for him in fics cuz there's so many juicy angsty or angst/comfort or domestic/cutesy stuff that can be written from it. like:

• eddie going to a va clinic for a checkup/doctor appt

• eddie talking with other vets he met and bonding over a few drinks or out and about while doing errands or an outdoor event

• eddie having sudden nightmares after a certain job or life incident (doesnt have to be major) and he's not sure why there happening again. but it left him zoning out while on duty and having convs with fam/friends, a little delusional like he's hearing shit that isnt there, sleep deprived cuz he doesn't want to relive it and he wants to keep himself busy, jumpy by the slightest noise and i mean like he getting up and ready to throw hands if someone claps their hand, self isolated and quiet aka he pretending nothing is wrong

• 911 fam paintball event and eddie is just killing it cuz his training is kicking back in but he's a tad rusty or eddie just drops lore that he does this every week or twice/once a month with a couple vets he met a while back and thats why he's wreckin everyone

• the classic soldier coming home, surprising his family and kids. yeah i just think this would be so cute with the diaz-buckley fam w/ or wo/ theo and simply a juicy plotline with buddie

• buck asking eddie why he doesn't have one of those vet stickers on the back of his car or vets caps, and eddie is like 'i do not want people to keep coming up to me or honking at me and thanking me for my services' not only does it slightly annoys eddie cuz some folks be doin it at the wrong/weirdest moments but also he doesnt feel like he shouldnt be thanks (just to drop a bit of angst☺️)
