On a related note, letting Entrapta actually be angry and show frustration would have been a great way to answer why she’s so apathetic about everything without falling into ableist stereotypes about autism. Give her an attitude that because everyone abandons her and doesn’t care about her except for her tech help, she doesn’t care about them in return. Give her a deep insecurity and rage that “Everyone’s after my chainsaw heart technical mind, what about my heart?! Denji’s Entrapta’s heart?! Does nobody want that?!” Dive deeper into her character and motivations, treat her as an actual character and not your token autistic person. Then again, paper thin writing and ignoring everything interesting in favor of Catra is par for the course when it comes to Spop.

Hordak, turning to Entrapta: Uh also your face is good and I’ll kill anyone that disrespects you.

Because he’s proud of her. He isn’t embarrassed by her.

I know that sounds like a low bar, but in context his high praise of her in public is actually extremely brave.

Hordak tries very hard to come off as his intimidating, scary persona. It’s not only for being in charge, it’s also out of fear. Hordak is constantly scared because of his defect that anyone could find out his physical weakness and attack him. His answer to this is making himself look big and strong, as frightening as possible. And it works, from what we see especially in season one when Catra and Adora are just cadets.

Let’s all be entirely honest with ourselves here, Entrapta is fully Hordak’s weakness, and oh boy does he know it. He is fully aware of his softness towards her and is also aware that it could be easily taken advantage of. If someone used her as a spy or hurt her to get to him, he would be defenseless. It would be entirely logical for him to put on an act in public to hide his affection for her for both of their safety.

But he doesn’t.

He does the opposite.

In a room full of people, he loudly explains how she’s correct, how Catra owes her life to her, how he listened to her. He openly admits “Entrapta interceded on your behalf…instead of the many punishments I intended,” letting everyone in the room know that Entrapta is fully capable of influencing his choices and can even overrule him.

And then the praise. He says Catra should thank her. And even when being openly disrespected, he can’t keep the smile off his face when talking about her. Ah, and look at her glowing at it, she’s in love 🥰

But anyway, it’s such a small but strangely impactful moment to me. Hordak had all right to hide his feelings for Entrapta, but chose to loudly announce how much power she had over him to an entire room. He’s showing us (and everyone else) that he isn’t embarrassed by her. She is not a weakness to him. She makes him stronger, and he refuses to pretend that she doesn’t.

And of course he doesn’t. He respects her and her authority.

The only time he actively denies affection to her is when Prime asks, but I think we can all let that go considering it was clearly a “say no or admit something that he’ll likely kill you for”, and he later mentioned his love for her directly while killing the guy—

but anyway, yeah. I love how happy both of them look. Beautiful married couple of morally gray scientists. Love them
