Hello Beautiful People!!!
I realize that I have not yet made a Introduction post, so here I am.
You can call me Conrad, I am bisexual, 24yo and use any pronouns while I still figure it out.
I really REALLY like monsters, from culture, religion, folklore or narratives, I find them really neat not only visually but also the meaning behind them, so if you have some time to talk please send me an message about your favorite one, either it being a Kaiju, Pokémon, Yōkai or Cryptid!
I also really love art, usually more visual and / or interactive media, so mainly Video-Games and ARGs, follow a list of my top five of my favorite mediums:
Video-Games
Bloodborne - This game is just THE grotesque master-piece in absolutely every way, I fell in love with it all over again every single time I play it, the game play is fantastically frustrating and the themes the game addresses are beautifully repulsive.
Killer Frequency - A nice, weirdly cozy puzzle game with a nice narrative and a creepy atmosphere, I really love Forrest Nash and his friendship with Peggy Weaver. Absolutely worth your time!
The Darkside Detective - I LOVE THIS GAME, it is so much fun and the Point and Click gameplay works so well to make the narrative so charming, I love it, every single little bit of it.
Dreadge - I like fishing, I like horrors beyond my comprehension, so it sounds perfect right? Except little-known fact about me, I have Thalassophobia, which is an irrational fear of the deep blue sea, and I love EVERY single frame playing this game, the narrative is so weird it makes me melt, and the art style is simply STUNNING.
Pokepaek Wii 2: Wonders Beyond - Yeah, it is a kids' game for the Wii, but here is the thing, this was the first game I 100%, also the first game I cried and the first game to make me fall in love with the Pokémon franchise. This game still means a lot to me and I can't bring myself to forget about it.
Movies
Late Night with the Devil - A movie about a conspiracy theory about how there is a cult in LA that uses the demon Abraxas to give fame and power to lesser men, truly this movie is wonderful, I love that I can forget about this movie just so I can remember it again.
Ainda Estou Aqui - A powerfully moving political thriller set in "The Lead Years" of the military dictatorship Brazil went through, the acting, setting, and story of this movie are truly awe-inspiring!
Jurassic Park - The science fiction thriller of the 90's the movie is visually impressive and makes you feel like these monsters created by Hammond's InGen are living and breathing animals, even if the books are more my jam, the movie is a god sent that gave me my love of monsters and animals alike
Arrival - A movie about an alien species arriving on Earth and establishing communication with us, a movie about our relationship not only with each other, but with our context and with our language, a beautiful experience.
The Thing (1982) - A psychological thriller about a shapeshifting alien that with one single touch can infect your body, cell by cell, oh boy I love how paranoid I feel every time I watch it, Outpost 31 feels so familiar and yet so distant, almost limiar? I love this movie.
Comic Books
Kingdom Come - A narrative centered on an old Clark Kent who lost his love of humanity, and is slowly working to regain it again, just to fail like any other man, what a beautiful tale with astonishing art and wonderful writing.
A Lebre e o Coelho - Yeah, a teen BL is still my favorite comic book, yeah I don't know there is something about these characters that made me feel less alone as a little bi teen, and as a big bi adult, seing them having troube and still being friends after just makes me feel good about me and my friendships.
Hellboy: Being Human - My favorite story of my favorite character in fiction, in this story Hellboy and Roger The Homunculus go in their first mission together in the BPRD, and they work to stop a paranormal event in a farm, and the story deals with the fact that neither of them are human 100% human makes the way the narrative ends way more interesting than what I was expecting.
X-Men: God Loves and Man Kills - My favorite X-Men story, it is a more mature story that uses the fact that mutants are inherently a minority, and the relationship between minority groups and religion is thorny to say the least, the bigest sin of this little arc is a) trying to convince me Cyclops and Storm died, let's be honest right? Storm dying? And b) WHY WASN'T NIGHTCRAWLER THE MAIN CHARACTER???? My dude is the most Christian X-Men and he looks like a demon? That was the best way to use the fact that he is a cristian demon???? But either way, it is a nice story that is worth being told.
Superman: For All Seasons - I like this book, some say it is boring, and I get why, it is very much a slow burn, but oh boy how it burns, I feel so good whenever I reread it, it makes me fall in love with the Kents, with Lois Lane, and with Metropolis, such a beautiful little story.
