and hell, sam's first appearance in the comics, digitally recoloured to match the colouring they had at the time of printing - which is to say, not great but still very much telling you what his skin tone is in the range of (and considering where he is consistently coloured as now, it's indicating what he is supposed to look like):
notice how NONE of these examples match with that first colour? the light on his forehead in the second modern comics drawing, sure maybe, but that's also literally the lighting, not his skin tone. sam is a darkskinned Black man, period, the end.
can we please stop with the whitewashing? can we take the time to learn how to colour and draw darkskinned people? the link below is honestly required reading and full of great resources, but it's also just a start. educate yourselves. it's ridiculous atp.

Talk About Wanting a Captain America 5 Without Shitting on Brave New World Challenge
Jesus. It’s like nobody can ever talk about their desire for another Cap movie without calling BNW “mid,” or even implying it was horrible or a “flop,” in the process. What scale are y’all usuing? What are y’all measuring it against? Certainly not the rest of the MCU, because it’s just as good as the average MCU entry. It’s a B. It was fine. It expanded on Sam’s skills & talents, introduced other Cap comic characters, furthered Sam’s and the other main characters’ arcs, instead of regressing them like some other MCU movies, and told a solid story. It isn’t the best, but it isn’t the worst either, and it definitely isn’t close to being bad. Hell, it’s not even the worst financially speaking. Yet so many people, even the so-called fans, always judge it so harshly, when they’re never as critical about most other MCU movies. Seriously, the shade and sometimes outright hate BNW gets from the fandom is ridiculous.
