Almost like left, right, and center, have constantly been devauling the importance of art and artists and keep withholding support or removing existing supports.

It's not about the fact that "anyone could make it". It's about how, if you yourself wanted to make that exact thing, you wouldn't make that exact thing. You would make your own version, and hopefully in the process realize that the value of art isn't the end product, but the beauty of creation.
