I'll be honest, I'm not a huge fan of this one... I think the lighting is doing a lot of the heavy lifting here. I am very proud of my little embers, though! That was legitimately a lot of fun to paint. Idk, something feels off. Maybe it's the character's anatomy, maybe the pose is too stiff? Constructive criticism from my fellow artists and art enthusiasts is greatly appreciated! Full below:

naturally, i don’t think many would classify jackie as human any longer at that point. but what about johnny? why is he more human than jackie in the same engrammatic state?

when v talks to the monks after the pisces questline, there’s a really interesting dialogue about what makes someone / something human and there was particular emphasis on suffering. if an engram or digitised psyche can experience suffer, then they are a real person.

i think we can all agree that johnny suffers A Lot but that’s entirely because of his proximity to v. the busted state of the relic allows him to suffer and experience and live alongside v as if he were them. his soul may have been destroyed in 2023, but his ability to share v’s is the only reason he’s not a husk of his living self. his access to their soul is what makes him human.

they’re quite literally soulmates your honour…

EDIT: okay a lot of ppl have made two really interesting points that i wanna add:

- jackie’s engram was made after he died vs johnny’s being made as he died. so naturally, johnny is gonna have more personality and “humanity”
