It's only morning.

THIS HAPPENED ON SATURDAY NIGHT AND I’M STILL IN SHOCK

it has been a while since i last wrote something on here. it seems like all i do is browse and reblog things.

anyway, i had a really empowering spring break! i had never been to nyc before, but the scholarship program at my school arranged for 5 other students and me to stay in NYC for spring break. to be specific, we stayed with georgetown alumni and their families in or outside of new york. 

i remember thinking i would be overwhelmed by the fast-paced nature of the city or the fact that i’d be exploring on my own for the majority of the trip. instead, i found myself loving the city’s energy and being able to do my thing, at my own pace. 

my personal favorite day was last wednesday because i treated myself to TWO musicals -- Sunday in the Park with George AND Miss Saigon! I impulsively bought a front-row ticket for Sunday in the Park with George because of Jake Gyllenhaal. I was surprised by his amazing singing voice. I loved being able to see the intensity in his BRIGHT BLUE EYES. Annaleigh was amazing too! this musical hit me deeply because one of the major themes was concentration -- on the now instead of fixating on the past or future. Very important reminder at this point in my life tbh. ALSO, a memorable quote is when Marie says, 'There are only two worthwhile things to leave behind when you depart this world: children and art.' This hit me hard because my dad recently passed away. despite the fact that i’m not a parent myself, it reminded me of all the sacrifices my dad made and how everything he did was for his family, especially his wife and kids.

Then, at 8 pm, I saw Miss Saigon! i first saw it in London, where i fell in love with it. Since then, I’ve been listening to the soundtrack on spotify. I even saw the special screening of the final London performance in theaters last year. Basically, I’m in love with this musical because it makes me feel A LOT. And, well, this Broadway performance was cleansing. I went by myself, so i was able to cry and laugh. I sat in the aisle seat in the 5th row, on the right-hand side of the stage. I HAD AN AMAZING VIEW and was able to see the sparkle in their eyes. After the performance, I waited by the stage door and met the cast. Beyond being amazingly talented, they’re incredibly sweet too! They all, including the leads, took the time to interact with fans. They didn’t just sign or take pictures. They truly tried to connect. 

My soul is happy.

I feel like something in me has been awoken. i’m already looking to see if i can go back sometime soon or maybe do an internship over the summer.
