To me, the appeal Cardan Greenbriar, Holly Black’s titular Cruel Prince, is not that I find him attractive it’s that I find him both relatable and aspirational. He is a 19ish-year-old disappointment who deals with his feelings by getting drunk and wearing a lot of cool outfits and eye makeup and trying to act aloof and mysterious and sexy. This is all deeply relatable, but the aspirational part is that, while most of us just looked ridiculous, for him it’s all somehow working.

they should invent an apartment that has huge windows but is never too hot and is near everything i like and all my friends but is also quiet when i want it to be and costs zero dollars or perhaps they pay me to live in. and they save it just for me so i dont have to look for it :)
