“u s of a is a melting pot” the fuck it is. i’m the mother of a mixed race kid and it’s just so incomprehensible to people that i get asked nearly every time i’m out without my husband if i’m my daughter’s: nanny, babysitter, montessori teacher (?), buddy (???), or if i’m mommy’s friend taking over to give her a break (I am mommy.) and this is a child I gave birth to. can’t imagine how it is for blended or adoptive families. melting pot my ass maybe.
