This type of disgust is a reflexive amygdala response and is only an initial neurological response to a situation. The amygdala’s reaction can be mitigated by other slower/more rational areas of the brain.

(Not a neuroscientist, could be getting some of this wrong but I think it’s basically correct.)

The amygdala also has the disgust reaction against the Other, the root of initial racist/etc. subconscious reactions. The more you stomp down on your disgust reactions, the weaker your emotional reactions are going to be against groups that are Not Like You.

You can train your brain! You want this kind of brain! Brain adaptation is the human superpower! (And butts for upright low energy locomotion)
