as much as I enjoy Dunk/Baelor and Dunk/Daeron, i love the fact that Dunk only became Kingsguard when Egg became King, Egg gave him the name Duncan, Egg came up with the idea of his sigil (a tree on a sunset field), Dunk was ready to fuck off his honor to keep Egg save and protect him. Dunk knew that it is better for Egg to wander around the realm as his squire than staying at the court. Egg even had Maekar’s permission to go with Dunk. Dunk thinks Egg is the only good thing that happened to him at the Ashford Meadow. Egg guarded Dunk when he was injured and passed out. Egg is undoubtedly and canonically the most thematically rich companion/partner for Dunk.
More Dunk and Egg fanart, featuring Dunk, Egg, and Aerion Targaryen from The Hedge Knight! I went a little further with the stained-glass style this time, and I'm happy with how it turned out! Especially Aerion's cloak, which is supposed to be fully black if I remember right; I added in the fiery colours just to help it pop XD
Also, the dragons here aren't actually there - it's meant to symbolize the Targaryens fighting (over Dunk hahaa)! The designs are based on the descriptions of their dragon eggs; Aerion's is gold and silver, and veined with red, while Egg's is white and green, all swirly. And the tree in the back is meant to represent Dunk :'''D

I love Maekar so much, "stressed and grumpy mother" coded characters are one of my fav.
More details:
- Daeron has a symbolic star in his eye for his visions/dreams.
- He's definitively on catnip.
- I couldn't find good descriptions of Rhae and Daella so I ended giving one full Targ colouring and the other is a brown tabby (like her mom) but with white markings and lilac eyes.
- I NEED to know more about those two and Aemon GIMME MORE MAEKAR CONTENT WITH HIS CHILDREN I'M BEGGING.
- Any Targaryen has lilac eyes (or purple) in my mind, so Matarys and Daella get those even if they are not silvery white.
- Baelor has a white spot under his lilac eye showing his Targaryen genes and he passed it to his son. I'm soooo weak for the lilac&brown eye combo for Baelor and Valarr <333. He's a mini-Baelor but with a brownish tint in his fur and a bigger white marking referencing his silver hair strand in canon.
- Traditional Targaryen cats will be a bit pinkish when little and will get silvery o more golden when they age (look at Maekar compared to Egg, Rhae and Aemon).
- Yes, Dunk would be a Maine Coon mix.
- Don't ask me how all the dragon riders stuff could work here, I don't know lol.
