being mad about youtubers in particular is especially diabolical, because, like... they've been making hours and hours of content for free, and you've had adblock on the whole time, so they no longer get the pennies from views, so they've resorted to in-video ads, which you skip and do not use codes from, so those partners are less likely to continue long-term if they're not seeing any return investment. which, okay, you don't want to shill out money to some random advertised company, whatever. are you buying this creator's merch when they release it? are you attending live (in-person or streamed) events they are doing? if you don't have the money, are you leaving a comment? are you liking and sharing their videos? are you signed up to their mailing list? are you finding like-minded people in their communities? or are you just sitting there, Consuming Content for free, and then getting mad when, in this capitalist hellscape, artists are suddenly coming out saying "hey, I'd love to make more of this, but I really need to also be making money". just ridiculous imo
