I am a terrified mother worried about my daughter Farah, who has been admitted to the ICU more than once. She suffers from RTA (renal tubular acidosis), low potassium, and metabolic acidosis, and she urgently needs medical follow-up and tests.

🦽 Our goal is now $550 to provide her with a wheelchair that will help her move safely, as well as to complete her medical tests.I don't want to live through the same pain every time I need to move my daughter—begging, crying, and pleading until one of our neighbors kindly lends us their own wheelchair. I simply want Farah to have a wheelchair of her own, so she can move with dignity and safety without me having to ask for help every time.

I heartily disagree, which she knows because I tell her so with the honesty and candidness I think I am known for, and I think you will disagree as well.

Here is what she said to me today:

"My little girl is no longer as light as she once was, as she appears to you. She's grown into a young woman, and quite heavy; my back aches when I carry her. She used to be so light, as if I were holding a piece of my heart in my arms. But today, she's grown up and is too heavy to bear without bending. But the truth that no one sees … what weighs me down isn't her weight, but my fear for her, the weariness of years, and the sorrow of a mother watching her daughter grow up before her eyes while she can't give her the life she deserves. Her body has grown, and my weariness has grown with it. But in my eyes, she will always be my little girl, the one I fear to put down, lest I find I can no longer hold her."

Does that not say everything more clearly than I possibly could? Are these words not heartbreaking and the most sincere? Do they not speak of the exhaustion and fear of the mother of a disabled child, and her eternal love for her as well?

But of course I will happily add my words. I know Farah's condition well, because Wesal and I speak almost every day. Farah is currently suffering from hypokalaemia, or potassium deficiency. This is because her potassium supplements have been unavailable for months now. She receives urgent care at the hospital when her potassium levels dip too low, which has happened several times in the last month. But they can only do so much.

One symptom of potassium deficiency is muscle paralysis and muscle cramps. Farah experiences these in her legs when her potassium levels are too low. This means she has difficulty walking, and must be carried instead. But she is sixteen years old now. Carrying a teenager is very different from carrying a young child.

So yes. Farah needs a wheelchair. Wesal needs a wheelchair for her daughter and for her own health. Both mother and daughter deserve this, the dignity as well as safety that would come with being able to transport Farah to the hospital and back.

She cannot carry Farah on her own. She shouldn't. Let's help her.

Also this is why while the upper middle savarna class will always have the loudest voices they'll be the shallowest. Pradhan resigned. New one is worse. Next year it will be sold again. Not that it matters because the entire system is flawed from the core.

and then there's this other, more complex, more interesting Bhagat Singh of his letters... of leftist imagination. someone who stridently stood against Indian capitalism as well as colonisation. my friend read his letters in Punjabi, her first introduction to leftism was him. i met him on wall paintings at university with quotes i couldn't have imagined he said. quotes that wouldn't fit in Rang De Basanti.

• they've started detaining students liberally. if you're going to the protest or coming from it they're very likely to detain you (the police has spread it check points all across central delhi). you'll be denied entry by auto or even walk, they'll either try to scare you away or detain you. if you're coming from other state especially by railway you'll be asked what are you here for & be asked to prove it.

• the government has blocked 17 metro stations surrounding jantar mantar. for some reason they're also covering up janpath & other nearby metro stations. all entrances to jantar mantar have been closed off & a complete internet shutdown near jantar mantar.

• they are denying lawyers contact with their clients. they've also been denied entry in police station to speak to their clients, that inspector has apologized qa of now & an internal investigation for his behaviour is said to have started.

• they're also making sure that the protesters have no access to food, water or electricity. last night electricity supply to janpath was cut off ++ the police are now stopping delivery men at check points & seizing food ordered by supporters from all across the country (don't worry they have enough food).

• cafes & shops in connaught place have been given a legal notice to shut down by 6 (since many of them were providing free water & washroom services to protesters). even nearby hotels have denied room booking to doctors.

• many creators have been offered money to speak against the protest & start a hate campaign.

• we are under complete state surveillance. the police is using meta ai glasses to record the protesters, and is later running a facial recognition check on them.
