This Weeks Vibes: Really want to work on fleshing out Talenna in her DA4 Rook timeline, so I would appreciate prompts geared toward her time either as an Agent of Fen'harel or during her time as Rook! Interactions with Varric, Solas, the DATV Crew, Merrill, Fenris, my Warden Shaesa, my Inquisitor Alora, her bondmate Saeris, and her kids are all encouraged! When Rhiannon turns the conversation flirtatious, as was an inevitability at that point, Alora for once decides to do something about it. And immediately, she has regrets. TW: for drunken kisses WC: ~500

This was it. Proof that she’d finally lost it. 

Alora’s lips broke away first, wet with the taste of Rhiannon’s warm cider. There were only inches between them, maintained by the two hands she kept pressed to either side of her best friend’s face. A mistake. The biggest mistake she had ever made probably. 

Neither of them moved. Rhiannon was staring at her as if she were raving mad– which clearly she was– but the fact that Rhiannon neither made a move to pull away or say anything was almost worse. That surprised stare, which moments before had been obscured beneath half lids and lowered lashes, could have killed her where she sat. 

Instead, Alora’s face reddened considerably– a true feat considering the amount of drink already in her system. Blinking backwards, she released Rhiannon’s face with a mumbled apology. Stupid. Silly. Foolish. “I didn’t mean it,” she forced out, eyes diverted in shame. “It’s just that you were saying all those things again, and I know you don’t mean it, but I- I got confused. You were so close so I just-”

“Whoever said I didn’t mean it?” 

Alora’s eyes snapped up. “What?” 

Rhiannon leaned closer, all traces of the frightened deer look from earlier now gone. Usurped by her previous expression of coy and coquettish mockery. Except now it was closer. Two-inches-from-her-lips closer. 

Scarlet-tinted nails traced across her cheek, the shade of both a near match. With just a touch, Alora was entrapped. 

“In fact, I am not entirely convinced that you didn’t mean ‘it’ either,” she continued in a low purr. “Hate to break it to you, sweetheart, but your gaze isn’t half as subtle as you might think it to be.” 

And traitorous things that they were, Alora’s eyes did flicker. They darted down to Rhiannon’s red-lined lips, now smeared with kisses. Further, to the low cut of her shirt collar and swell of her breasts on clear display. And then to the hand that Rhiannon now rested over top Alora’s thigh, as much an invitation as it was a tease of its own. 

Her breath shuddered. “I-”

This was bad. A terrible idea to top off the rest for the evening. Why was she even considering-

“Stop thinking so much.” Rhiannon leaned in close, until even their lips flirted. “I can promise you, the real thing is so much better.”

Alora may have broken away first, but Rhiannon kissed her again second. And again third, deeper. Harder. Her mouth tasted of warmed cider, but was hotter still. Wetter. Way more intoxicating. Any thought in her head, be they terrible or traitorous, went blissfully silent. 

How could she ever hope to argue against that? Rhiannon was right.

“You know… I somehow always knew you would be the death of me…”

What was the saying…? To cast your eyes to the heavens…?

Hot, precious lifeblood spilled freely from her breast, seeping into the fibers of her robes until they were stained a deep black. Every rain drop to touch her soon ran red into the earth below. She took another wheezing gasp– something like a laugh– causing the knife to shift again, spilling a fresh wave of heat across her chest. 

For once, she did not mind the pain. Talenna already knew that there was no reason to. She had felt it as soon as he’d struck her. 

On folded knees, Solas sunk to the ground beside her. The red of her blood was reflected in his horror-filled eyes. What an odd expression for him to make– he had been the one to drive in the knife. Where did he get off seeming surprised?

“Do not make that face…” she chided. He had made this choice the day he’d left them. As if either would let him walk into death alone, the fool. Of course, she had hoped for this day to come many years later, after she had grown old and this day was little more than an echo of a memory. But it was pointless asking things of the world, especially now of all times. The absolute last thing she wanted was to go with regrets. “Now… Now you will have one of us waiting… no matter the path you choose…” 

It was enough that she had walked it for as long as she had. That she had loved, and chosen to keep loving, in spite of it all. She refused to let these years be a waste. Him, too-

Solas pulled her into him, all of him trembling. His hands. His arms. His very breath. She could feel it wash against her brow in staggered waves. Not at all the comforting rhythm she remembered or wished for, but still she let herself listen to it, her eyes slipping shut, just briefly. 

His voice broke as a cry from his lips. “Vhenan.”

“Sathan…” she sighed. “Come home, Solas. Stop… stop running from us.” Already, it was too late. She had caught him– beaten the both of them to the end. Now she had all the time in the world to wait for them to catch up. There was no need for him to race them now. So… So please- 

“Please.” Her eyes opened, pleading to Solas’. To the crying grey sky beyond. “Do not leave him to walk this world alone.”

She could wait. She could be patient. 

But he had waited long enough. 

No more. 

Rest. 

Rest.

Rest…

Beneath him, Talenna lay dead in the arms of a man. 

A lover. 

A stranger.

His heart.

Someone, for the first time in years, he could not claim to know.
