I think it’s also important to note re:Ferdinand being the ML that he had the right amounts of shamelessness to get Rozemyne to agree to marry him lol. Like, the only people (in my opinion) who ever truly had a chance at marrying Rozemyne (and her not being upset about it) were Lutz & Lestilaut. Lutz with the unfortunate thing being he never had the strength and confidence in himself to protect her. And Lestilaut with being too aggressive in his pursuing, trying to force and pressure her into marriage.

Ferdinand asked for her opinion first, considered all her options and offered her one or two times for her to wiggle way if she wanted. But once he confirmed what she wanted, and that she wouldn’t be terribly upset about this happening - he made sure no one could break up the engagement. He schemed, plotted and fought kings, duchies, princes and gods to ensure they weren’t separated. Like that man even gave her his name stone because he was like ‘now that i have your permission i will quite literally stop at nothing so if you wanna stop me at any point you’ll have to use force’

It is the unfortunate side of going viral on Ascendance of a Bookworm TikTok that you get the comments of ‘why does she end up with [blue haired guy]? That’s gross, she should have ended up with the [blond guy]’.

And leaving aside how stupid it is that you complain abt an anime where you can’t even remember the character’s names, it’s even stupidier to complain without actually reading what you’re complaining about.

Because, for the love of god, you cannot possibly think you’re the ONLY person to ever think ‘maybe she should have ended up with Lutz’. It’s a Bookworm Canon Event to think Lutz is the Much Better Option, and believing (maybe up until halfway part 4) that you Kinda-See-Why-Ferdinand-But-Ultimately-Lutz-Was-Better, and hopelessly clinging to the idea that the romance could not possibly be good enough to justify breaking them up.

But then the OTHER half of part 4 and the entirety of Part 5 makes you eat your words. You Get It. You See It. It clicks inside of you because oh my god these two autistic idiots could not POSSIBLY survive without each other.

The romance is THAT good. And as much as you think Lutz is a good option, once you see [spoiler ig] Myne picking a fight with the GODS, you go ‘oh shit shit please anyone anyone CONTROL HER’, and the only one with the nerves and common sense to actually stop her is FERDINAND.

Some day i will actually go on a full one rant on how the anime severely nerfs Rozemyne via making her too much of a child (to make her more likeable). Because I feel like I cannot stress enough how intelligent Rozemyne is supposed to be. She’s supposed to be a merchant capable of arguing and negotiating with Benno. She’s capable of scheming and plotting when it suiits, she thinks of Sylvester more like a child she has to babysit than an adult she can rely on half the time, in part 3 SHE HAD A SOLID RIVALRY with Ferdinand. Those two were pulling each other’s legs, pranking and negotiating. The only reason why it even stopped it because Rozemyne almost d1es (aGAIN) and Ferdinand panics and goes mother hen.

She can be so mean. As much as we like to make fun of Lestilaut, he was RIGHT she’s a menace. There’s a reason why she’s considered a gremlin. She causes problems on accident and ON PURPOSE multiple times by trying to outsmart the system (which sometimes works and sometimes it doesn’t). And that gets so lost in the anime.

Every now and then I think 'I really want to read (insert here) type of fiction/fanfic~' and this time I remembered I have free will and I can just like. make it. so... now I have a comic. Also- spoilers warning for the end of Ascendance of a Bookworm~ :)

I made Rozemyne's baptism hairpin!

I started making little crochet flower hair accessories after I read the Ascendance of a Bookworm light novels, but this is my first attempt at making one of the specific hair pins from the series. And uh, probably my last because like literally every depiction of this hair pin is slightly different. Trying to square up all the different illustrations into something cohesive was really tough!

It was mostly done with friendship bracelet thread and embroidery floss, but the gold is sewing thread. The main part of the hair pin has three white roses trimmed with the gold thread, a dozen medium blue flowers, and a dozen dark blue flowers sewn onto a backing. There are pearls between each of the dangling flowers to keep them spaced nicely and to give the strands some momentum when they move. The comb is more useful for how I usually wear my hair than a hair stick, so I sewed that to a circle of felt then hand stitched it to the floral piece to make it tidy.

Ferdinand is such a funny character cause he was handed a Myne and he thought he was being extra careful and soft on her, just to inmediatly be traumatized by how frail she is, and then proceeded to be so overprotective of her it borders on neurotic AND IT’S STILL NOT ENOUGH SHE STILL MANAGES TO GET HERSELF IN TROUBLE ALMOST BIANNUALLY

i think one of the best things in bookworm is when Rozemyne teaches Ferdinand 'water gun,' and THEN!!! THEN she convinces/teaches him to make it look like a regular gun!! And we get THIS!!!

I love Ascendance of a Bookworm because Myne just keeps gaining more and more power and its really just a side quest to her. She is reshaping the entire world around her so she can have time to read. Myne has saved so many orphans and created an entire industry from scratch and yes shes a good person who cares about children but also. She's using them for labor so she can have more books. Myne you are the funniest girl in the worlddddd

god the mighty nein would fucking thrive in the feywild. they refuse to give out their real names. behind a fake name is another fake name. they use disguise self constantly. they refuse to take anything at face value and do 21 investigation checks and 15 insight checks beforehand. they have a designated poison tester (beau). if someone tells them anything they double check it with a library and even ask the gods if it's true. jester tricked a hag with a two week old cupcake. artagan never brought the nein to the feywild not just because he doesn't want to go back there, but because he knew every person in the feywild would fucking hate the nein immediately solely for the fact that they couldn't trick them.
