Sketch dump from the last week~

The many Yukata doodles featured here are due to my doing a traditional Japanese dance recital thingy on Sunday - part of a club I joined - it was very fun, and involved a Lot of practice~

#I don't think I am ever going to forget Sakura Sakura (さくらさくら)#we danced that thing so many times (in practice I mean)#I can barely remember any of the other dances we've done in class #but I reckon I could do the Sakura dance in my sleep-#it was very cool #we got our hair styled and had a professional to help us put on the Yukata properly and everything #(we put them on ourselves for class since the sleeves are part of the choreography - but having the help was very much appreciated)#I don't think my form was amazing but I think I was at least decently coordinated #I didn't make any obvious mistakes. I think.#our dance teachers make it look so effortless though - like. I feel like I've never danced in my life in comparison #I have been doing regency dancing for the last - nearly ten years now?#but that does not involve the same amount of body control you need to do just about any other style of dance #*sigh~#anyway.#twas fun #digital art #sketch #doodles #doodling #the first picture is that detailed because I was too tired to concentrate in class last week #I have been in a semi permanent state of exhaustion for the last few weeks and I am kind of sick of it tbh #it is all self inflicted (the fanfics I found were too gripping okay-)#but the last few days were out of my control #and I just want to not feel half asleep/extremely sleep deprived #just for like. one day~#:(#I am just. really. really. tired. :(#I didn't really rest at all this weekend because of the performance and rehearsals and now I just want a day off #where I can sleep for 24 hours straight #or something like that.

Been going through my skz pinterest folder for drawing practice~ It has been very entertaining thus far~ :D

These are my ocs, Farrian (older brother - light blonde) and Fen (younger brother - darker blonde) and I may not have ironed out all the details on their stories yet, but I can certainly do short comics in the meantime~ :D

#ocs #farrian #and...#fen #:D #yeye #these guys are potentially a lil too codependent #but they figure out how to deal with it eventually #after a good deal of disagreeing over who is protecting who #big bro is rather frail but doesn't like to admit it #and lil bro managed to grow rather tall (outrageously so if you ask Farrian) and likes to remind his big bro of that regularly #and they both want to protect each other #but Farrian is rather cynical and suspicious whereas Fen is kinda like a golden retriever in human form #so they have some disagreements on what constitutes 'safe'#which interferes with the 'getting along' stuff they've got going on #ye #it gets harder to tone down someone's cynicism/paranoia when the world IS actually out to get you #even if it's not quite as much as Farrian would assume #so that definitely required a lot of working through #:)

This picture has grown on me (made it last month, didn't think it was good enough to post) and I actually like it now. So I am posting it~ This is Han Jisung - the reference was from the skz fanmeet :D

Guess who started watching Daemons of the Shadow Realm this April~~ 👀 couldn't be me, obviously-

#as a fan of fma I of course had to check this out~ (same mangaka as fma)#and it is very cool so far #from what parts I can actually understand of what's going on #(I've been watching it all in Japanese with no access to subtitles so my comprehension of the plot is... somewhat limited)#yuru and asa have some hilarious sibling interactions #so as soon as I can understand enough to properly absorb the dynamic #I will absolutely be drawing lil comics of those guys #but for now here's a portrait study #with 'how I would shade it'#'how the anime shades it'#and the reference for good measure #:)#yuru #daemons of the shadow realm #yomi no tsugai #hiromu arakawa #OH YEAH #yuru yomi no tsugai #yknow #when I looked up 'yuru' this guy and yuru camp was the main thing that came up #so I feel like it's worth specifying #that this dude is the 'yomi no tsugai yuru'#not the other anime with yuru in the title #ye #anyway. I read a lot of fanfiction.

I have always vaguely wanted to make fan art for fics I have read but I couldn't think of a way to do it that I liked.

But after doing the Howl's moving castle project I had an idea. Making tiny book covers!

So here are my first 6.

I decided to start with Silmarillion fics. In general I went with ones that really stuck in my mind, for some reason or another I really remembered them.

angsty oc art hehe~~ (I realised I've barely drawn more than a couple pictures a year of my favourite oc so I am morally obligated to fix that tragedy~)

#oc #original character #hehe #farrian #if I draw him enough that'll be an actual searchable tag heh #anyway~#this is mostly concept art tbh #if you want the 'what the artist was going for' explanation then that is as follows:#the feeling of isolation that somehow feels worse because you are technically surrounded by people #but you don't feel any real connection to any of them #:)#and some more specific to the story ones:#knowing that even if you wanted to connect to the people around you you can't because if they knew anything more about you...#then there is a very real danger that you would be beheaded for treason #or dissected for research depending on who you spilled that information to~#and the only person who you thought you would be able to confide in has just cut you off completely #and you still have to show up to court and pretend that everthing is fine (and interact with your former trusted confidant)#because if anyone suspects you then you and the person who just cut you off could very easily be executed - or 'taken care of'#fun times~#you have also just found out your old magical injuries may be slowly driving you insane -#and there is nothing you can do about it #:):):)#being someone's favourite oc is not for the weak~#>:D

He's an oc from a story I came up with like, 5 years ago...? Haven't really advanced much past the first draft (about 40,000 words plus tons of planning + storyboard drafts), but if I actually get my act together on tightening up the plot then he'd be the mc of a graphic novel series~
