I've been exploring masculinity and not really putting myself in the box of femininity, and I feel... great! I didn't realize how much internalized misogyny and gender roles are packed in me until I unpacked them slowly and realized that it's not that I don't like being a woman, but I just do not want to be boxed. I do not want to perform in a certain way, I don't want people to expect me to behave in certain ways just because I was born as a woman.
did some work while im on my depressive episode! that was exhausting asf and that felt weird but it feels weirdly good
as good of a time as any to share my list of activities I do during what i like to call Scheduled Soul Maintenence to avoid burnout
go on an aimless bike/ride/walk - move your body, do it for as long as you feel like it, discover new places near you weather that is a frog or a cafe
watch a new movie/read a new book/listen to a new album - get inspired, excercise having opinions and longer attention span, break out of consuming content and make a choice about what you want to expirience
create something in a medium i haven't used in a while - get out of a habit, rekindle a flame you haven't been upkeeping, making a friendship bracelet counts
go have a fun new drink/snack - arguably most important, have a little treat without rush, slow down and focus on physical sensations, treat yourself in a way that isn't landfillcore
meet with friends and/or go to a place where you meet strangers - human connection is good for you, (maybe some casual sex if you like that/try something new with your partner)
make some bad art - create for the sake of creating without any expectations
play an instrument - this can be anything that makes you reach a kind of flow state
go see something you haven't yet - get to know the cultural/geographical map of your area, this includes events, places, or just anything that makes you go out of your way to expirience something new, can be like a viewpoint or it can be a museum exhibit, anything you find cool
cook/bake something new - nurish your body, break out of cooking habits and routine, make it an event, plate it nicely too and i would like to point out that none of these have to cost more money than your usual lifestyle.

listening to Sabrina's new album and laughing my ass off at the dumbasses accusing it/her of "setting women back" and being "male-centric" like tell me you're not listening to the lyrics without telling me
"she's centering men" she's centering herself. she just happens to be attracted to men. but in all of her songs on this album, she's talking about herself. what turns her on. what she's into. what she wants. its unashamed, unabashed sexuality, and it's all about her. the men she's supposedly "centering" are afterthoughts. they're objects in her fantasies.
if you think this is "setting women back" then your feminism is poisoned by purity culture, and I pity you.
I, in the meantime, will have the best fucking time listening to this album. I hope her next album is even filthier.

Sorry! Allow me to be angry for a second it's Sunday. I'm just thinking a lot right now. For a religion that (quote from my school's priest) "builds itself on a culture of kindness" I've never quite met anyone else this cruel. The church I have to attend is protestant (and a megachurch lol) and every week they have someone give a testimony about how they found God. Sometimes it's heartwarming, maybe. Like hey! That was great man. Most of the time, I have to sit and listen as my siblings from the LGBT community flay themselves open on stage and tell the world how their love was a sin. Today's testimony came from a former lesbian who attended church with her partner of 15 years, and then decided to break it off because they didn't want to go to hell. Not because they fell out of love or anything like that, but because they didn't want to go to hell and to live in sin. What a fucked up little echo chamber. No one hates me more than the god my parents claim to serve
One of the hardest parts of religion has always been the idea that I was born sinful and there is nothing anyone can ever do to change that- you will always be someone whoβs committed sin.
It feels so futile to then try and follow the rules if I am destined to always be breaking themβ¦.
