Barbra has liked this idoit for so long and he has dated so many other people before and I think she’s insecure about it beneath her cool and witty self
(Bonus points if you imagine this after she loses the use of her legs and when she is at her most lost)

Her crossing the boundaries of their friendship and of their professional lives. Also! Crossing boundaries of their “regular lives” Daughter of Police Commissioner with Rich Son of Billionaire?!
“And if it turns out it’s over too fast, I’ll make every last moment last”
The lives they live don’t lend themselves to reaching retirement age. Especially if you imagine this after she’s been injured but before she finds her footing as oracle then you are met with this character who has faced her own morality and wants to savor what she can. Furthermore this lends more to her insecurities, maybe dick will reject her? Maybe this is just a one night thing? But after having faced near death and feeling so out of control (the trauma of a sudden disability) she’s gonna enjoy what she can and worry about consequences later
“Maybe im brainless, maybe I’m wise. you’ve got me seeing through different eyes”
Dick Graysons character summed up. But seriously I think he struggles with making the ‘right’ decision especially as his character has had added responsibility (ie batfam,titans etc.) and especially with something as valued and fragile as him and Barbra’s relationship I think it makes sense he’s a little lost with his footing but ultimately he finds security in how Barbara sees him and confidence in himself.

Heheheh he’s so in love with her :) also fun comparison to a lot of Dicks fear being drawn back to that sinking feeling you get when you fall and in this case that pit in his stomach has led to something wonderful

😳!! But also ‘lost time’ they have been dancing around each other for so long and now they finally have their moment
“Say there’s no future for us as a pair. Though I may know I don’t care”
More commentary about their life style being dangerous and how love is worth it despite the risks it includes in their jobs

Ahhhh! I love this for them. ESPECIALLY if you have it as Barbra has been recently injured. It’s a release from all the labels they’ve had up to this point- they aren’t daughter of the commissioner and son of Bruce Wayne, they aren’t batgirl and robin/nightwing, they aren’t who they are in relation to their family, its just them exactly as they want to be seen by the other person. It’s just them taking a chance on what might be amazing if they can get past all the fear and trauma and just have a chance to be THEM.

For me this would be maybe one of the first times Barbra feels as powerful as her old self and has, in a small way, started to come to terms with all the different sides of her self. Having someone in her life who has known her for so long and has seen all these sides of her and loves all of it. Makes the jagged and shatter pieces of her life click together. She’s not a millions different masks, and she not fragmented now that she’s disabled- all though versions of her are her. Dick sees all though sides of her and doesn’t see a disjointed mess of personalities and personas but she’s Her. A single multifaceted person that is worthy of love and has already stolen his heart. <3
