Do we think Stratt missed being a normal person? Obviously she wouldn't have the time to miss much of anything, what with everything needing to happen by yesterday, but working with military and professionals, I'm sure she got tired of the way people stood up when she walked in, ceased talking, saluted and spoke concisely. I think maybe that was why she kept Ryland around, not as just a scientist, but as a normal person. A point of reference to remind her of the people she's saving.

To me, AI-powered makes about as much sense as redstone-powered in the way that some people apply both terms to things that cannot be easily powered by either. For example, an AI or redstone powered door makes sense. An AI or redstone controls the opening and closing of the door. (I don't know why you would want an AI controlling your door, but you do you.) But if you were to, say, power a website or a base, it doesn't make sense. You can use AI in a website the same way you can use redstone in a base, but the entire unit is not "powered" by and cannot run exclusively on it.

Every once in a while Ratskewer comes to mind and I'm reminded of the absolute mind fuckery and anguish that is his lore. It's always a great day.

Ethubs RPF is funny and cute until you're sitting in the dark reading as a man named John meets a man he calls Etho in a hotel room/gas station bathroom/his spare room and then goes home and lies to his wife about it.

I love Eun-Mi because she's evil and I think she should put Harvey into the Truman show for money.

Deep in my heart of hearts I hope that every animated movie featuring an AI carries a message against AI or for human work.

There's something to be said about the episode that inspired this One Piece talk. In that episode, this hulking monster of a man faces off against Rebecca, a 16 year old, female gladiator that, as usual, is stick-thin with massive boobs and wears practically nothing. This episode was just generally icky for me seeing this girl dressed in the bare minimum being expected to find somebody three times her height and ten times her width, it just didn't sit right. Then another female gladiator swoops in, and rather than be known for her combat ability, she's known for the sweet, motherly smiles she gifts upon others. It's in her very title. Together, they trick the massive guy to tip over into the water, eliminating him from the contest. It annoyed me that when she starts running away, the announcer calls her a coward as the crowd boos. "Stand and fight and bleed," one of the audience members shouts out. It seems reasonable to me that facing a foe as formidable as her opponent requires a moment to think, to regroup with a strategy. Then there's the fact that it takes two experienced female warriors to topple one guy (not even kill him, but trick him). She could have fought him. She was an experienced pit fighter who supposedly never lost a fight. Her father had taught her since childhood to fight. Why couldn't she take down a man that large, when Luffy has done the same? She has 10+ years of experience, surely she's gone up against larger opponents? I expected something more from her, more flashy attacks, especially since she's "undefeated." I'd also like to note, the men in the back room are all rooting for her, not because sh'es good and they respect her for her skills, but because she was nice. She cheered them on and was just sweet and oh so kind.

I was sort of watching One Piece and right off the bat, the female designs don't sit right with me. Where you get the varied body types and strange and inventive features on men, there seem to only be two body types for the women. Hyper-sexualized and large. Granted, I have not seen a lot of the series, so I am not knowledgable on exceptions and the like, but from what I have seen, as an outsider looking in, is not very good. I asked a One Piece watcher and he said that as far as body types go, there aren't very many different ones. There are snake ladies, but that's pretty much the most different body type? Then I asked about their clothing, and he said that they don't wear much, and the ones that do usually wear dresses or jeans. If I remember correctly, those that wear shirts usually have them low cut, showing their collarbones and/or boobs. Which. Is a design choice. I thought a part of character design was creating interesting silhouettes and not just showing off the person's body? But every attractive woman wears revealing clothing meanwhile other women like Big Mom wear things that cover pretty much the entire body. Their clothing is usually flattering or always in obviously feminine styles. I'd like to see somebody with more practical/interesting outfits or in a style that doesn't scream feminine. There's nothing wrong with femininity, but when it's displayed like this, it feels so stereotypical.

Moonrise was fun. From what little I could find here on Tumblr, it's received mixed opinions. I personally wasn't really happy with the POC representation in the show. From what I can recall, most if not all of the clearly colored characters are very strong (or hold "tank" positions within the team) and are almost excessively masculine. There's a wider range of personalities and skill sets in the rest of the cast, from Eric (scrawny gamer) to Georg (clearly strong, but not built up to a massive degree). By virtue of the fact that this story follows soldiers in a war, I'm not complaining that they are strong, only that the POC are portrayed all as one type of strong with little personality to differentiate between them.

Bloodletting toxic yaoi: Owen being Owen, promising to change for Legs, who faces the brunt of Owen's (often social) repercussions (because he actually cares about other people). Naturally this relationship takes a brunt on Legs, who is already at-risk.
