1) they're both kinda tan (Owen more so) with long brown hair and scars. one's just a bit more groomed than the other and her scars are mostly from hunting monsters.

2) they're loners who are in love with a ghost (Owen has Louis and Elle has Vi). I haven't written anything yet, but when I do, you'll find that Elle likes to be on her own.

3) have some form of connection with axes and lumber / lumberjacks. Owen used to be a lumberjack and Elle's father was a lumberjack, she also has an axe that's been passed down from father to son for at least a few generations.

4) they're both not human. Elle is a little more human than Owen but she's on her way towards being a flavor of monster like him.

For some reason, the recency of his massacre perhaps, despite being mortal the beacons still sort of register him as a dark force. It’s not entirely the same as a vampire, though. He doesn’t interrupt a beacon(for either sides!), and he can still assist humans on consecrating, but the moment he tries to turn a beacon on his own? It corrupts. Owen is functionally a neutral-evil force that requires all beacons to be one side to escape the barrier. This effect also leads to an unusual misunderstanding; everyone, including the vampires themselves, believe Owen to be a vampire. They simply refuse to believe he’s a mortal, and his attitude towards humans certainly don’t help… but he can’t become a vampire, either. Only Louis would be allowed to do that, he refuses to even consider the possibility of another.

Back on my bullshit, so here’s a lovebitten wip

When weird unexplainable shit happens (bc none of them are human) they all blame the vampires as to not blow their own cover, but the vampires obviously aren't doing it so Scott, Owen, Pyro, and Shelby all have to be like detectives and figure out who is what and why the things are happening

and I think the way they get out is Scott has some old ass spell book that's like "oh yeah if you get all these creatures together then you can get rid of the beacons" and they do some weird power of friendship shit and explode the beacons. This part is very optional but I think it would be funny
