This is my view on Ei's character, so beware ig lol

But I feel that even if Scaramouche hadn't erased himself from Irminsul and Ei knew he saw her as a parent, I don't think even then she would view herself as a mother. She views herself as his and the Shoguns creator, but not their mother, as "mother" both implies a minimum amount of connection and emotional stakes in their health, which she doesn't have.

She doesn't view the Shogun as a sentient being, and with Scaramouche, while she did see herself as his creator before irminsul, she was still largely indifferent towards him, albeit not maliciously.

Plus, I don't think that even after all this time, she's actually ready to be a mother, with both her all-encompassing grief for Makoto, and with her tendency to distance herself emotionally and physically from others.

Also this isn't me bashing her! I actually love her a lot, its just that a lot of the time it feels like in fanon, she's made out to be extremely maternal and motherly, especially towards Scaramouche and never toward the Shogun. I sincerely wish that more people within the Fandom do her character justice lol
