Hello! welcome to my little corner of the internet! Just call me Eva! I'm 18 y.o and ive recently gotten into fanfic writing π₯Ή
Feel free to look around my blog and check out my guidelines ^^
guidelines
Writing is not my biggest hobby, and I have a life outside of the internet, so please be patient and respectful. Posts and updates WILL be slow, but I will most likely get to requests eventually.
I'm doing this for pure fun, but feed back & constructive criticism is always appreciated. Key word constructive.
I write for both platonic & romantic reader inserts
I write for Fem & GN readers. As of right now I DON'T write for Male readers, sorry
I DO write smut here, so if you see MDNI, it means that there's NSFW! I'll also write angst, hurt/comfort, fluff, pretty much anything tbh
If I'm not comfy with your request, or if I don't feel confident enough to write it, I'm not gonna write it. Please respect that.
Be specific with your request please! Otherwise I may not write what you want!
I will NOT write: pregnancy, non-con (but I am fine with dub-con), incest, a/b/o, pedo...any romantic/sexual adult x child, yanderes, NSFW with underaged characters. Others I might have forgotten. If you're unsure on something, don't be afraid to ask!

TAGS: GN!Reader, takes place before PT4, pre-established relationship (they're married), light angst, hurt/comfort, spoilers for SDC, drabble, cuddles, Jotaro is the small spoon cuz he deserves it
A/N: He would definitely have nightmares post SDC cuz you can't tell me all that shit that happened to him at the ripe age of 17 wouldn't affect him at all. Also this is just an excuse to cuddle Jotaro π€«

In the middle of the night, in a daze between being half asleep and half awake, you feel Jotaro toss and turn beside you. When you went to check on him, you see that his face is distorted in fear, his shoulders tensed. It was one those nightmares again.
Hesitantly, you tap him on the arm. "Jotaro?" You whisper, afraid that you might spook him.
He flinches, and you see the beginnings of sweat drip down his forehead. His breathing became more uneven. Still in the dreamworld it seemed.
"Jotaro?" You repeat, albeit a bit louder.
He wakes up at that, turning to face you and you see his face immediately switch. The fear present before disappears as he registers your face.
"Hey." He murmurs.
"Are you having one of those nightmares again?"
"...No." Jotaro turns again, his back facing towards you.
"Jojo," You switch to his nickname, "don't lie to me." But your voice doesn't hold any bite. Only sympathy and understanding.
"I'm fine."
"Tossing and turning the entire night is 'fine'?"
"...Yeah."
Sighing, you sneak up behind him so that your chin was atop his shoulder. "You know I'm here for you, right?"
Quiet, he grumbles, "I know."
"So then come here." You shift your weight so that you're arms are open, inviting him in. Jotaro glances back at you, and when he sees what you're trying to do, he stops, not sure if he should give in, before completely turning around and accepting the invite.
He nuzzles his face into your chest, arms loosely hung around your waist. Very often he was usually the big spoon, but you had a feeling he prefered being like this. Absentmindedly, you play with his hair, the black curls soft beneath your fingertips.
"Sorry for waking you..." He whispers, and you hear the hurt behind his voice.
"Don't apologize. It's okay." You smile to yourself, "I don't mind if it means I get to hold you like this."
He grunts, cuddling closer to you like you were the only source of heat in the room.
"Do you..." You stop yourself. He probably didn't want to talk about it.
Jotaro glances up at you, sensing that you want him to speak. He retreats back to your chest. "It was about my trip."
You hum, urging him to continue. He's silent for a few beats more.
"I... miss them. I miss Avdol, and Kakyoin, and even that damn dog Iggy." He sighs, clutching around you more. You've only heard bits and pieces of his trip around the world, but you never knew the full picture. It seemed like a tough time in his life, though.
"And," He inhales, "alot happened. I..." Jotaro trails off, glancing up at you and then back down.
Your hands smooth over his hair. "You don't have to continue if you don't want to." Jotaro hums in reply.
As much as you want him to open up more around you, you understand it was something that took time. Lots of time. And you were patient enough for your husband to come to that on his own.
He's quiet again, save for his slow breathing, which was a lot calmer now than before. You see him close his eyes, and you think your cuddles finally convince him to fall asleep.
"You're okay now." You murmur, giving him a kiss on the forehead. "You're safe with me."

β°β°β°β°β°β°β°β°β°β°β°β°β°β°
During Hamon training days, you were often tuckered out by the end of it. Drained. Tired. Most of the time you usually slept in right after, never allowing yourself to have any free time.
Caesar, your boyfriend, wouldn't have any of this though.
He'd often drag you out, forcing you to hangout with him either beneath the clear blue sky or among the glistening stars. Sometimes you two would talk, sometimes you would cuddle.
Other times it was an excuse for Caesar to show off his skills (and to put on a little show for you).
His specialty was with bubbles. You always liked seeing them drift, until eventually bursting with a little pop.
His favorite trick to show you though was when he pretended to blow them out of his mouth. He'd always ask you first, "Are you looking, vita mia?", so that your attention was focused entirely on him.
Gloved hands folded around his lips, until eventually pulling away to reveal a barrage of bubbles, big and small, blowing out into the air. They'd go along with the wind, disappearing into the sky, the sun reflecting off of them, making them appear as vibrant as candy.
"Aren't they wonderful?"
You nodded eagerly, but mainly to make Caesar happy. You knew how much he liked them.
"I should make one dedicated just for you." Caesar commented as he blew another in your direction, the soft bubble landing on your nose and earning a giggle from you. "As a token of my endless love."
"Well, go ahead!" You smiled.
Grinning, he waved his hands, preparing a huge bubble as big as your head, and softly launched it in the air before blowing it away.
The final rays of sunshine reflected of it, providing a deep and colorful rainbow, trapped within the perfectly round bubble, a symbol of his love for you. You both watched as it slowly became smaller and smaller, disappearing into the ever stretching sky.
"There it goes. My love will reach the heavens, so that even in death, you'll feel it."
You and Jotaro despise each other's guts. However, your stands tell a completely different story (to put it lightly). While you and Jotaro yelled and insulted each other, your stand and Star Platinum would hug and... kiss? Just what the hell was going on here?!
Or; three times you and Jotaros stands kiss, one time you both did

The first time it happened, you weren't sure what to make of it.
Both you and Jotaro were known to clash. Always bickering at every opportunity, regardless of the time and place. It could be something serious or something as silly as what meal the crew should have that day. It didn't matter. You two always, always, argued.
You didn't like him, and he didn't like you. Simple as that.
That's how it should have been anyway.
One day, while the others were out in the city looking for food to bring back to the hotel, you and Jotaro stayed behindβand it was only a matter of time until some sort of disagreement popped up.
Your memory is a bit fuzzy on the details, but you remembered Jotaro making some sort of comment about Anne. Something along the lines of 'she's just an extra mouth to feed', and that was enough for you to blow up.
"What the hell is wrong with you?!" You stood up from the chair you were sitting on.
"It's the truth." Jotaro grumbled, voice as monotone as ever. He sat across from you, eyes closed and head against his chair.
"No it's not! She's just a kid Jotaro, what do you want us to do? Leave her on the streets?" You gritted your teeth, "I don't even get your logic anyway. It's not like money is a problem for us, it doesn't hurt to pay a little extra to feed the poor girl."
"There you go with your sympathetic rambling again."
"I'm sorry I actually care about people? Unlike SOMEONE I know."
Jotaro opened his eyes, eyebrows narrowing slightly. As soon as you saw that look, you knew the situation was about to blow.
"Shut the hell up." He clenched his jaw. Even if he was trying hard not to show it, your words struck a nerve in him.
If you weren't mad already, you definitely were now. What was with Jotaro and his tendency to brush everything off!?
"Oh really? Is that all you have to say?" You walked towards him, each step thumping down on the floor, "You can't even defend yourself?! Cause you know you're in the wrong?!"
"I don't feel like explaining myself to you. And I shouldn't have to."
"Damn it Jotaro you always do this! Whenever I make a good point, you just try and complety avoid it!"
The yelling escalatedβyou're pretty sure the entire hotel could hear you two by now. But you find yourself not caring. Not when you're dealing with this annoying dark haired prick in front of you. The back and forth between you two kept on going like a game of tennis, both of you two so focused on each other that you didn't even realize your stands materialized. In the corner of you eye, you saw Star Platinum with his hands on your stand, and for a moment you thought Jotaro was trying to attack you.
That would have been better than what it actually was.
No, Star Platinum wasn't attacking your stand. He was kissing it.
Out of all the things you expected to see on this trip, this was not one of them.
All the yelling from you came to a halt. Jotaro raised his eyebrow, "You finally done?" before turning to face the reason on why you stopped.
It's silent, neither of you dared to speak. Too surprised from the scene that laid in front of you. Star Platinum's lips gently pushed against your stand's, his big hands surrounding your stand's waist. Now that you think about it, you did feel a ghost of a touch linger on your mouth and body, but you were too caught up in yelling at Jotaro that you failed to notice.
You were too embarrassed to look at Jotaro. How was he reacting to all of this? He hasn't said a word. You assumed he was just as shocked as you were.
After a minute or so, Jotaro finally spoke, "Is this a stand trick of yours that I don't know about?"
"You know all my stands abilities by now! And why the hell would I have one that, that..." You flayed your hands around, blood rushing to your face, "...that'd do something like this?"
As you said that, Star Platinum happily sighed, cupping your stand's jaw and giving her kisses on the cheek.
"I don't know. That's why I'm asking you."
"Why are you always placing the blame on me? I'm pretty sure I saw YOUR stand make the first move-"
"Oh, so it's my fault?" Jotaro chuckled, his voice devoid of any humor. As silly as the situation was in retrospect, it wasn't as funny when you were the one going through it.
Immediately, his expression falls flat, "Use your brain for once, woman. I don't even want to touch you, let alone kiss you. And I never will!"
Star Platinum's lips captured your stand's once more.
The second time it happened, it was on the train to Calcutta.
Humid air hung over your table, as everyone but Avdol played poker to pass the time. You knew next to nothing about this game, yet, it was never too late to learn. Occasionally the train vibrated underneath you as it hit particularly rocky terrain. It was a bit annoying, but the extraordinary sights you saw as you passed through Southeast Asia made up for it. Overall, the train ride was a chance to step back, to take a break from all the chaos that you and the rest of the crusaders endured on your journey thus far.
Of courseβwith the one of a kind crew you hadβnothing could ever truly be calm around here.
"OH NOOO!"
Joseph's over the top voice echoed through the train as he saw his bet go to waste. At this point in the game, the passengers stopped turning to see what all the racket and noise was coming from. They already knew.
"Hahahahah! Fell for Jotaro's bluff again, eh Joseph?" Polnarref laughed, hearty and full of glee. Definitely exaggerated just to piss Joseph off more.
Jotaro gave a small smirk, taking in the chips as Joseph stared in disbelief, "You owe me, old man."
"Hey! You better learn how to respect your elders, Jojo! Besides, you and I both know that you were obviously cheating-"
Avdol sighed, "Just accept that you lost, Mr. Joestar." He turned to look out the window, fixing his hair, but you catch the little smirk he gave before he did.
"Come on! Is no one on my side?!" Joseph flayed his arms around, eyes rapidly glancing at the others at the table before landing on the redhead sitting next to Jotaro, "Kakyoin?"
Kakyoin took a sip of his drink, "I think it's better for me if I don't comment."
There was only one person left who hadn't spoken up yet. Seated next to him, Joseph turned to you, grinning ear to ear, hands out like he was about to convince you to be on his side.
"What about you sweetheart? Jotaro was cheating wasn't he?" He leaned in closer, still keeping the same grin. The silent plea behind his gaze wasn't lost on you.
Your eyes traveled from Joseph's to the accused sat across from you. Jotaro was silently watching you both, but you could have sworn his gaze lingered on yours a bit longer. Almost as if he was trying to tell you something without having to say it out loud.
You're not going to side with me, will you?
His dumb deep voice echoed in your mind. Grudges aside, the time you were watching the game, Jotaro's playing did look suspicious. So...
"Yeah, he was."
No one was surprised by your response, given the history between you two and all. Yet, it still seemed to strike the nerve in some at the table.
Just then, a waitress came by the table. She was carrying two big plates, each containing the things you and the crusaders ordered earlier that afternoon. Poker was pushed to the side, discarded for now since no one felt like putting it all away just yet. Everyone was starving, and the food was finally here!
"Apologies for the delay," The waitress quickly placed the plates down on the table, careful not to drop any of the meals, "It was rush hour and- ugh it was just a lot going on in the kitchen-"
"No worries." You said, giving her a sympathetic smile. That seemed to put her at ease at least a little.
She smiled back, tucking a stray strand behind her ear, "Thank you." With clasped hands, her eyes darted to the others seated, "If there is anything else you need, please let me know."
"Sure ma'am." You nodded, "We'll let you know."
With that, the waitress strolled away. Polnarref's gaze followed her steps all the way until she disappeared into another cart.
"You really have no shame, do you?" Avdol scolded.
"What? What did I do? Am I not allowed to look at people anymore?"
Avdol sighed, "You're allowed to look at people... just not undress them with your eyes."
"Ah connard! I didn't even say anything!"
Avdol closed his eyes, unimpressed, "Get to eating."
Polnarref murmured some more French underneath his breath before shoving a fork down in his food.
The rest of the crusaders followed suit, Kakyoin and Avdol savored each bite, Polnarref ate with table manners about as good as an elementary schooler, and Joseph seemed to not enjoy his food as much as he thought he would. But everyone was eating, well, everyone but Jotaro. He opted to just stare blankly at his food instead.
As your mouth was working through some very delicious satay, Jotaro took out a cig. Shortly after, it's lit, the smell of smoke engulfing your nose.
Fun fact, if there was one thing you couldn't stand (more than Jotaro), it was smoking. You hated it. Hated how it smelled, and how suffocating it made you feel. Even if you only caught a small whiff, it managed to ruin your entire mood for the next hour until the disgusting scent got out your system.
Jotaro knew this. And he used it to his advantage. Whenever Jotaro decided to have a smoke break (which unfortunately was very often), he'd always have it conveniently within your vicinity.
This was no exception.
The stench made you almost choke on your food. You forced yourself to swallow, glaring at Jotaro. He returned your gaze.
"Is there a problem?" He asked, cigarette moving between his lips.
"I'm just wondering why you aren't eating your food."
"Not hungry."
The grip on your fork tightened, but you forced yourself to take a deep breath, "Okay... could you do us a favor and put out the cigarette? Or at least not smoke here? It kinda ruins the mood."
Jotaro puffed out smoke in your direction. If you weren't sure before, now you're certain he's doing this just to piss you off.
"I'm just relaxing."
"Uh, well-" You coughed into your elbow, the stench making your eyes water, "Ahem- could you not do that at the table? Where everyone is currently eating?"
Kakyoin looked between you and Jotaro, sensing the tension.
Avdol chimed in, "Listen to her. The smoke is quite distracting."
"Eh, it's alright. Let the kid do whatever he wants," Joseph waved his hand, dismissing the matter entirely.
"If it really bothers you that much, go eat back in your room." Polnarref suggested, truly not meaning any ill will behind it. But his words stung somewhere deep inside your heart.
"Yeah," Jotaro tilted his head, a certain gleam dancing in his iris, "Go back to your room. That way, we're both happy."
Wow. The nerve of this man.
"Is this pay back or something?" You snarked.
"Pay back?" Jotaro parroted back, squinting at you as if he didn't know exactly what you were talking about.
You huffed, placing your utensils down, "You still think I was the one who caused the whole... thing between our stands that one time."
"Wait, what thing?" Polnarref darted his eyes between you two.
Jotaro adjusted his hat so it rested lower on his head, obscuring the upper half of his face. "I have no idea what the hell you're talking about." He muttered, taking another drag of his cigarette.
"Sure you don't."
You crossed your arms as a realization slowly dawned on you. He was embarrassed. Untouchable Kujo Jotaro was embarrassed. He didn't want the others to know about that little ordeal between your stand and Star Platinum's. A small smile appeared on your lips, the first one since the whole argument began. Here was a perfect window of opportunity to get back at Jotaroβand what else could you do but take it?
"Maybe I should refresh you on what happened then."
Jotaro snapped his head up, eyes wide. Everyone at the table took notice.
Joseph wiggled his eyebrows, "Do tell."
Kakyoin rested his face in the center of his palm, his cherry earrings dangling back and forth due to the motion, "Now I'm curious as well. I never heard about this."
Even Avdol took interest. "What's this about your stands?"
"Well, you see..." You began, eyeing Jotaro and his reactions. He looked pissed, and you don't think you've ever been more satisfied in your life.
But then, a wave of guilt crashed on you. Was this really the kind of person you wanted to be? Spilling secrets that (even if neither of you ever explicitly stated it) were supposed to be between the two of you? You didn't enjoy Jotaro's company, sure, but you still considered him a comrade. Did you really want to smash what little trust there was between you two? Just for short lived satisfaction that'll fizzle out in mere days?
Ultimately, you decided that keeping your mouth shut was the better option. As much as you wanted to get back at Jotaro, no one deserved to go through that sort of humiliation.
Plus... you would definitely get teased just as much as Jotaro if this got out (which would just end up evening the score between you two anyway).
"...That's a story for another day." You leaned back against the cushion of your seat, "I'm too tired right now, I think I'm gonna go and take a nap."
"H-wha-WHAT?" Polnarref slammed his hands down on the table, "You can't just leave us hanging like that!"
"I gotta rest up for tomorrow!" You called out as you got up and made your way to your compartment.
"What was the point of even mentioning it then!!" Polnarref cried out, though, his voice got fainter and fainter as you drew near your room.
You slid open the door, the woody auroma calming you down. Much better. Items were scattered around, your bed was undone, and luggage that you hadn't bothered to open yet was discarded near the corner. It was messy, but it was yours.
Jotaro's face flashed through your mind. He genuinely did look pissed off when he thought you were gonna spill what happened. Actually, now that you're looking back on it, his eyes seemed to have a look of panic. Which was something you never saw from him. The train of thought almost made you feel bad for what you nearly did. Almost.
As you went to close the door, a leather shoe stopped it, getting in the way of it fully shutting. It looked familiarβand wait a minute so did those pair of pants. Was it...?
There's no way.
Whatever short lived smugness you had before disappeared as quickly as it came when you opened the door, only to find the aforementioned Kujo Jotaro standing right in front of you.
His bulking frame took up most of your vision, forcing you to crane your head just to see him. Jotaro had the same blank expression he always did. A loose strand of hair hung over his face, and his ear pierced studs glistened in the light, shining like diamonds.
Up close, you understood why the girls back home obsessed over him so much. For a brief moment, you wondered why you didn't end up the same. The answer came quickly in you mind.
Because he's an asshole.
No room for debate. That was it. Simple.
Silence stretched on. Long, unbearably awkward silence. You weren't sure what to say. He just showed up out of nowhere, and now is just... staring you down?
Briefly, you wondered if this was some kind of test, but before you could think about it any longer, Jotaro spoke up.
"Why didn't you say anything?"
You scratched the back of your head, "C'mon, did you really think I would?"
"Yeah." Jotaro stated bluntly.
A sigh escaped your lips, "Look... what would be the point? If I mentioned what happened it would have been embarrassing for us both." Your lips pushed together into a thin line, "And... although I may not like you... I..."
Trailing off, you're unsure if you should say what you truly wanted to right now.
"You what?" He tilted his head down more, crossing his arms, frame looming over.
Screw it, might as well speak your mind.
"...I don't want to be responsible for doing something that might hurt you."
The words came out more personal and genuine than you would have liked. Even Jotaro seemed surprised by them, at least, that's what the flicker of whatever flashed across his face seemed to tell.
"Since when did you care about shit like that?"
Your body tensed up. The truth is, you didn't know. And you didn't have an answer that fit the narrative of you hating him.
"You- ugh-! Don't get the wrong idea!"
You deflected. There were too many complicated feelings you begun to have, none of which you bothered starting the process of unpacking yet. Why would you? When you had more important things on hand like the mission?
"I only didn't do it because I have morals! Unlike you I actually care about how my actions and words affect others! So don't come to me asking me these stupid questions as if you think you're special or something! Damn it Jotaro!"
"Give me a break." His jaw clenched, "All I asked was one question and now you're fucking blowing up on me."
Frustration coursed through your veins. Those words were enough to start another full blown argument, one that lasted for quite a bit before two familiar faces showed up.
Hidden behind you, were Star Platinum and your stand. Your stand's fingers threaded through Star Platinum's messy hair, his gently held onto her hands. And, of course, their lips were all over each other.
Jotaro noticed before you did, cutting whatever insult he was throwing at you off, as he stared blankly behind you.
"Not this again." He muttered.
"What?" You turned, facing the sight you thought you'd never have to see again, "Oh. That."
Silence fell between you two. This time around, you actually felt their touchesβmore than usualβand transiently you wondered if Jotaro did too. Whenever Star Platinum kissed the corner of your stand's mouth, it left a ghost of goosebumps in wake on your own skin. If he held your stand's waist, it felt like someone was holding yours too.
The feeling was... weirdly nice.
Not like you'd ever admit that to yourself though.
"This is ridiculous." Jotaro mumbled, stating the obvious.
"Yeah." You murmured back.
It's quiet again, save for Star Platinum's little oras whenever your stand attacked him with kisses.
"And stupid." You added on awkwardly.
Jotaro grunted in agreement.
Out of nowhere, your stand started to draw hearts over Star Platinum's toned chest. You noticed how Jotaro crossed his arms tighter, fists clenching around his sleeves like he was trying to ground himself or else he'd slip away.
Jotaro cleared his throat, "I'm gonna go."
"Good idea."
"Yeah."
"Ok. See ya."
He nodded, pushing his hands into his pockets as he walked back in the direction of where the rest of the crew were.
The third time it happened, it was on a submarine en route to Egypt.
Sixty meters below sea level, the vessel traveled at a comfortable pace. When you thought of submarines you thought of cramped spaces, tight corridors, dusty rooms that left you barely any room to breathe. But this, this vessel was the complete opposite. It was fairly large, which shocked you. Definitely more then enough room for six occupants. Another thing that surpised you was just how nice it was. It included things like a fridge, satellite phone, even a coffee machine. Truly, it was a sub of luxury. Valves decorated the walls, pipes looped around like a maze, and there were machines connected to them all (none of which you could name). Faint sounds of water bubbling could be heard outside, and the sonar beeped periodically.
At the moment, Avdol was the one driving. He was the only one out of the entire crew qualified enough to, after all. Though, Polnarref kept pestering him that he should be next (to no avail).
"I trust Mr. Joestar more with maneuvering vehicles than I do with you." Avdol quipped.
Polnarref groaned. "Oh c'mon!"
"If that's the case," Joseph came over by the two, "then let me drive! I'll be just fine!"
"But you're not gonna, Gramps." Jotaro lowered his head, unimpressed. "I'm not getting in another crash because of you."
Joseph chuckled, "Hah! My grandson sure is harsh."
"You just figured that out?" You muttered, only loud enough for Jotaroβwho was sitting adjacent to youβto hear.
Jotaro shot you a look. But he kept quiet.
The crusaders talked on for a while longer, but you mostly tuned them out. Right now, you were in your own head, thinking about, well a lot of things. Turns out being on a submarine in deep ocean with not much to do besides talk, eat, and sleep, left you with a bunch of free time. And you personally used that time to lose yourself in your head.
One thing that kept popping up in your mind was Jotaro. You're not sure exactly why, but your brain refused to be fixated on anything else besides him. Everything about him; his interactions with you, his demeanor, how he always hid behind that scowl. How he managed to have incredible fighting skills while simultaneously having no social ones. How he pestered you and bothered you to no end. Why he disliked you so much (that one you're not sure if you'll ever figure out). Seriously, it's not like you ever did anything to him!
Maybe it's a facade.
A small voiceβyour ownβfaintly whispered in the back of your mind. Facade? Really?
Memories of your stands kissing popped up. To this day you weren't sure why they acted out the way they did. You didn't even realize stands could just... do things on their own. They were supposed be a manifestation of the user's life energy, their soul. At least, that's how Avdol explained it to you. So how would they have a separate consciousness...
Wait. If they were a representation of the user's psychic energy, then that would mean...
A tap on your shoulder interrupted you. It was Kakyoin.
"You alright?"
"Huh?" It took you a second to register what he was saying.
He gestured towards the fridge and coffee machine, "I was asking everyone if they wanted something to drink."
"And you weren't responding." Jotaro grunted.
"Even when I was calling out your name." Kakyoin added on.
"Oh, I wasn't?" You blinked. Right. You were busy thinking about... what was it again?
Realizing Kakyoin was waiting for you to continue, you shook your head, "Sorry- uhm. I was just zoned out is all." You gave him a polite smile, "And yes, I would like something. I'm pretty thirsty."
Kakyoin nodded, returning the smile. "Thought so."
He walked to the back of the room, seemingly to work on preparing all the drinks for everyone. You're left to your own devices once more.
Except, you could feel Jotaro's gaze zeroing in on you. You turned to face him. As expected, his face was blank, emotionless. Head slightly tilted back along with his chair, and his arms were crossed. He never made it easy to decipher how he was feeling, did he?
"What?"
You asked him, genuinely dumbfounded on why he was staring at you so intensely.
"What's the problem?"
"Huh?"
"You," He jerked his head in your direction, "you're never this quiet for this long. So what's going on?"
"I-" You cocked your head at him, a small chuckle escaping you, "-I'm just tired. That's all."
He stared at you like you just made the dumbest joke of all time.
"Bullshit."
"Excuse me?"
"That's not the reason why you're quiet. You were thinking about something."
Unsure of how to respond, you nodded slowly. "Well, I was. Is that an issue?"
"No."
You stayed silent for a moment, analyzing Jotaro's minimal expressions, trying to figure just exactly what his goal here was. The thought of him asking you that out of pure worry or curiosity was so outlandish to you, that it never crossed your mind. Even if realistically that was the most logical explanation.
Not like you got that at the time, though.
"Y'know, you make no sense to me, Jotaro." You shook your head, sighing.
Jotaro wrinkled his eyebrows at you. He didn't have time to respond back thankfully, since just then Kakyoin returned to the table with your drinks.
"Here you guys go." Kakyoin placed the cups and cans down. One coffee for you, two colas for him and Jotaro.
He pulled out a chair to sit next to you, "I hope this is good enough."
"It's great! Thank you, Kakyoin." Giddy, you picked up your cup very gently. It was still hot, the smell of caffeine soothing your agitated brain.
Kakyoin popped open his can of cola. "Of course."
Careful not to burn yourself, you took a sip of the coffee. It was... amazing!
"Mmm no way! Did you add cream to this too?" The taste lingered on your tongue as you spoke.
"I did." He took a sip of his own drink, the can as bright as his cherry earrings hiding his small smirk. "I... uh... you mentioned it that one time remember? That you preferred your coffee with cream?"
"Well, you've got a better memory than me."
Kakyoin shrugged, placing his cola down.
You looked down at the caffeinated drink in your hand, turning the cup around idly. "Seriously though, I appreciate it. I haven't had any good coffee like this in awhile. I didn't realize how much I missed it."
"Then enjoy it now." Kakyoin leaned his head into his hand, "You deserve it."
You flushed slightly at the comment, his words comforting you. In the corner of your eye, you could see Jotaro's grip tightened around his own can. But you paid him no mind. The trip had been so overwhelming, you barely got any time like this to just, relax. Enjoy simple little treats such as this one. Or spend meaningful time with your friends.
Taking your time, you savored the warm drink, and lost yourself in your head once more. Most of it was thinking back on your home in Japan. As fun as this all wasβseeing new places, experiencing new things you wouldn't have otherwiseβyou still missed home.
Actually, maybe Jotaro did too.
"Do you ever miss Japan?" You mused out loud, the question being directed at the two boys sitting with you.
"Sometimes." Kakyoin shrugged.
"Not really." Jotaro spoke bluntly, keeping his eyes glued to the floor.
You turned to properly face him. "Howcome?"
"It was shitty."
"Was it now?" You stopped yourself from rolling your eyes. Of course he thought it was. "And why do you think that?"
"For multiple reasons."
"Which are...?"
Jotaro muttered, "I don't feel like telling you."
You clenched your jaw, but quickly breathe in and out. Okay, so Jotaro didn't want to say. That's fine. Totally. He can keep his mouth shut. It's whatever.
But... curiosity got the best of you.
"Was it because of school?" You tilted your head at him.
"Who knows."
You took that as a 'yes'. "Was it the work?"
"No."
"The people?"
Jotaro grunted, tensing his shoulders. You also took that as a 'yes'. All the time you've spent with him so far helped you learn how to read between the lines (for the most part).
"What? Did people annoy you?"
"Yeah."
"In what way?"
"They just did."
"Okay, that's not really helpful."
"Why are you interrogating me?"
You sighed. Just when you thought you were getting somewhere.
"I'm just saying," Getting annoyed, you mumbled, "can't you- ugh-can't you not be so difficult for once in your life?"
Alright, maybe you could have worded that a bit better, but Jotaro was really starting to piss you off, and you did not feel inclined to be mature about it.
"Good grief, woman. Stop whining."
"I am not whining!"
Jotaro slouched over, ignoring you completely. It only served to make you more mad than before.
You whipped you head at Kakyoin, who had awkwardly been watching this unfold for the past few minutes. "Kakyoin was I whining?"
"Uhm..." He rubbed the back of his neck, looking between you and Jotaro.
"Listen. Pay her no mind. She's in one of her moods."
"The only one in a mood here is YOU Jotaro."
Before it escalated any further, Kakyoin spoke up, "How about you guys calm down and we can all discuss this-"
Neither of you heard him. The petty arguement had already reached a boiling point, it was too late to turn back now and listen to reason.
"Can't you shut the hell up?" Jotaro spat, his gaze finally reaching up to meet yours.
"Always you and this damn attitude! Aren't you the same age as me? When are you gonna grow up? Huh?" You yelled, voice high pitched and filled with frustration.
"Hey-" Kakyoin tried to speak again (keyword tried).
Jotaro leaned in closer, "No need to raise your voice, woman. I can hear you."
"Guys-"
"Well maybe I should speak LOUDER so you actually get what I'm saying. But I guess volume wouldn't matter, since you're too dense to understand me anyway!"
"Guys!"
Kakyoin's raised voice broke you guys out of your trance. Calm collected Kakyoin never yelledβbeside maybe in battleβso it was shock to hear for both of you.
He simply pointed to the space behind you, and that's when you realized he was suppressing a smile. "I think you two have more important things to worry about."
Oh no.
Oh no no no.
Don't tell me...
Jotaro grunted, wrinkling his eyebrows in confusion before turning around to see what he meant.
Take a wild guess what it was.
Your stand's arms hung around Star Platinum's neck, holding on for dear life as he smothered her with kisses all over her mouth, affectionate 'oras' murmured between each peck. Star Platinum had his fingers gently digging into your stand's waist, rubbing his thumb in circles.
"This- this uhm..." You glanced frantically over at Jotaro, who's lips were slightly parted in surprise. Goodness, what were you even supposed to say?!
"Hm? Mind explaining what I'm looking at?" Kakyoin chuckling did not help the situation at all. Matter of fact, it only brought more unfortunate attention to it.
"What are you guys laughing about over there?" Joseph asked, his back facing you guys. So was Polnarref's and Avdol's, but it was only a matter of time before they wanted to know, too.
Currently, Star Platinum was now pulling your stand into a bear tight hug, smooching his lips against her cheek, which ended up spawning a happy giggle from her. They pressed their foreheads together, staring deeply into one another's souls as if they were the only two people (well, stands) in the world.
Oh dear. You did not want them seeing this.
Quick! Think, think! You have to think!
"Nothing, Gramps." Jotaro called back, his voice unwavering. As much as you disliked him, you envyed how he managed to keep his cool so well.
Phew. Perhaps that was enough to convince him.
"I'd be inclined to disagree." Kakyoin said, a wide smirk playing on his lips.
Jotaro shot him possibly the dirtest look you had ever seen. For a second you genuinely thought he was about to punch him in the face. But, if he was going to, he decided to save it for later. After all, there were much more important matters to attend to... such as Kakyoin having perfect view of the humiliatingβand unexplainableβmake out session between you and Jotaro's stands.
Impulsively, you shoved your stand away from his, forcing them apart. Good thing you did, because a second too late and the always keen Joseph would have seen the whole thing.
"Oh? Why's that Kakyoin?" Joseph called out, straining his neck, not bothering to fully turn around. His eyes squinted at the two stands, who were now all moping about and complaining to their users. "Howcome your stands are called out?"
"They... were..." You drawled out your words, hoping it would buy you enough time to come up with an excuse.
"They were curious about the submarine." Jotaro explained casually. You silently thanked him.
"Yes! Ah-" You cleared your throat, giving a forced smile at Joseph, "-what Jotaro said."
"Hmmm, I didn't know stands could be sentient like that." Joseph whipped his head back to face Avdol, who's personal space was currently being invaded by Polnarref. "Avdol do stands actually work like that?"
"Yes. Usually it's case by case, but it is infact very common. There are times the stand may even act on their own accord, depending on the user's emotions and feelings."
Act on their accord... based on feelings?
"Really?!" Polnarref interrupted, "That means even Hermit Purple could do things on its own, right?"
Avdol let out a grumbled sigh. "...No. Stands that usually act on their own are humanoid presenting. Your Sliver Chariot, or my Magician's Red would be an example. It's very very rare to see otherwise."
"But it's still possible?"
"I suppose it could be, Polnarref."
Polnarref grinned, the fluorescent lights bouncing off his teeth. "So, let's say I had feelings for a girl, but I was too scared to tell her... would Silver Chariot hypothetically-"
"We need not entertain that topic."
"Hey! You didn't even let me finish!"
"I know what you're about to ask."
"How would you know for sure?"
Avdol smiled, shaking his head as he tsked to himself. "Did you forget that I'm a fortunate teller?"
Polnarref formed a little 'o' with his mouth. "Oh. Right." He sheepishly rubbed his neck.
On another day, you would have joined the conversation, but right now you're just glad the spotlight is off your stands. Speaking of which, they were still bothering you two. Star Platinum was muttering many 'oras' to Jotaro, the whole interaction coming off like a child whining to their parent about not getting their way. Then, on the other hand, your stand was simply giving you silent treatment, as if she was waiting for you to apologize. Apologize for what? Separating her mini makeout session with the stand that belonged to the one person you truly disliked in the entire crew?
Eventually, both your guys stands dematerialized, leaving you alone with the aftermath of the whole situation. First things first, you needed to have a talk with Kakyoin. Although you're happy he was the only one who saw what happened, who's to say he won't tell the other crusaders? He seemed to not be the type to anyway, but you could never be too careful. Also, you had to make sure you cleared up any... misunderstandings.
They were feeding off you and Jotaro's hatred for each other, twisting it into some gross form of affection.
Yeah. That's what happened.
It didn't mean anything.
Nothing at all.
Discreetly, you leaned over to tug on Kakyoin's sleeve.
"Yes?"
"Can we talk real quick?" You dropped your voice to a whisper, side eyeing Jotaro to see if he was watching (he was not) (matter of fact he was avoiding any and all eye contact with you).
"Sure."
Kakyoin pushed out his chair, disregarding the half-empty can of cola left on the table. Mimicking his movements, you got out of your own, and made your way down the corridor that lead out the control room. However, as you went, you felt like someone other than Kakyoin was watching you go (it didn't matter) (you could think about it later). He followed you until you stopped abruptly, turning to face him. You were deep enough in the hallway that no one should be able to eavesdrop your conversation, now.
Words got caught in your throat. The buzzing of the lights, the sudden chill you felt standing here, and how small this cramped corridor made you feel certainly didn't make you any less nervous. All the while Kakyoin was leaning against the wall, patiently waiting for you to start.
"Uhm," You swallowed, "you can probably guess what I'm gonna talk about."
"The stands, correct?"
"Yes." You averted your gaze to the floor, counting the tiles as you ruminated on what to say next.
"Well, first- don't- don't tell anybody what happened, okay?"
"I won't."
Barely a whisper, you mumbled, "Thanks."
For a moment, it was quiet before you continued on, "I don't like Jotaro. And Jotaro doesn't like me."
"I think that's clear to everyone."
You breathed a sigh of relief, grateful that he wasn't trying to convince you otherwise. Sometimes when you brought up the issue to others on the team, they'd always put you down and say 'well, Jotaro is just like that with everyone', when that couldn't be further from the truth.
"Exactly," Your gaze lifted up to his. "So what you saw was a malfunction. Our stands were feeding off our intense emotions or something and- and turning it into... That."
Very, very slowly, Kakyoin nodded, almost as if he didn't quite believe what you were saying. "Right."
You relaxed your shoulders, giving a soft smile. One less thing to worry about.
But, based on how Kakyoin was studying you with his lavender eyes, you had a feeling this conversation wasn't entirely over yet.
"That wasn't the first time, was it?"
"Huh?" You blinked.
"You mentioned once before, back when we were on that train going through Southeast Asia, that something occurred with you and Jotaro's stands. It was the same exact thing, wasn't it?"
Alarm sounded throughout your body. But, there was no use in lying to him. "Uh, yeah. It was."
"Isn't it strange how this has happened already? Possibly multiple times?"
"Well, yeah it's odd but..." Where are you going with this?
"I apologize if I'm overstepping here, but I think there's something more that's going on. That you might not be aware about."
You stared blankly at him. The underlying meaning behind his words still hadn't fully processed within you.
Kakyoin chuckled, realizing this was a conclusion you'd have to come to on your own. "Just try and think about what I said." He turned to make his way back to the control room, each step reverberating against the steel floor. "You'll figure it out soon enough."
Since you were now left to your own devices, you decided to retreat into the barracks. There, you could simultaneously have privacy to reflect on what Kakyoin meant, and avoid all your other comrades.
Isn't it strange...
...how this has happened already?
There's something more going on.
That you might not be aware about.
You'll figure it out soon enough.
It wasn't until a few hours later when you popped out again. By then, mostly everyone was getting ready for bed, taking turns using the single bathroom and washing up so they could get to sleep. Avdol was still driving, the control room eerily quiet without the banter between the crusaders. You got a sudden urge to go and talk to him. Maybe he would have the answers that you were searching for.
Hesitantly, you sneaked up behind him, fiddling with your hands as you came up with a way to start the conversation.
"Avdol?"
Without moving his head, he replied, "Evening. Shouldn't you be getting to sleep with the others?"
You shook your head. "Not tired."
"Ah, I see." He nodded, then glanced over, "Is something troubling you?"
You mustered a weak laugh. "That's one way to put it."
"Tell me. I might be of service."
His voice was genuine and full of understanding, free of any kind of judgement. Although you hadn't talked with him one on one often, you still appreciated the moments you did. He was one of the few reasonable people in the team. An anchor for their chaos, if you will.
"Okay uh, it's a bit of a random question but," You absentmindedly rubbed your arm, up and down, "It's about what you said with the stands. It got me thinking, if two people hate each other, but their stands act all... friendly with one another... is that an accurate manifestation of how those stand users feel?"
"Of course." Avdol said with conviction. "Sometimes a stand knows a user's true emotion way before they're aware of it."
If that's the case... then...
"True emotion, huh?"
"Yes. It wouldn't be anything else."
Just to make sure, you asked, "So the stands aren't feeding off the user's hate to turn it into- say uh- a public display of affection?"
"That's oddly specific, but yes. They're not 'turning' one emotion into another. They're simply revealing the user's honest feelings."
"Right." You sniffed, avoiding eye contact, "That makes sense."
Green light from the sonar illuminated Avdol's face, which now seemed to be analyzing you with a certain kind of curiosity.
"Did something happen to make you think that?"
"No- no just was curious is all. Stands are kinda confusing, so I wanted to ask you since you seem to be an expert on them."
"That they are." He sighed, his mouth quirking up a little. "However, there is always a chance to learn and figure them out. I hope I helped."
"You did, Avdol." Feeling assured, a small smile came over you. "Thanks. You helped a lot."
"I'm glad. Now," He pointed toward the corridor, "Go rest. We arrive in Egypt tomorrow. You will need the energy."
"Okay, dad." You grumbled, but your smile still remained. "Goodnight."
"Goodnight."
Shortly after the quick goodbye, footsteps followed to the sleeping compartment, where you'd have to share a room with the rest of the crew. Including Jotaro.
After many long days of blood, sweat, and tears, dragging yourself through battles and terrain that had no business being as difficult as they were, you had arrived. Despite the sun boring down on everyone, making it feel like you were candle wax melting away, you felt relieved.
Dio was close. And soon, all this would be over.
You had to admit, you were quite anxious. For two entirely different reasons. One, the journey is coming to a close, and there is a good chance you won't be spending any more time with your comradesβor hell even seeing themβafter Dio is defeated. There were so many good moments with the crusaders throughout this adventure, all of which you'd look back fondly on as years passed. But you didn't want them to end. You didn't want them to become distant memories.
And two, there was a good chance someone was going to get hurt. Or even die.
You didn't like thinking about that reason as much.
Already, when the crew barely stepped a foot in Egypt, Kakyoin had been injured, his eyes slashed from that N'doul's stand. Sure, you heard he was getting the utmost care from the Speedwagon foundation, where they were treating him exceptionally well. But, even if Kakyoin barely dodged getting blinded for life, the sudden loss of a loved team member put everyone on edge.
Things were getting serious now.
It didn't help that, due to your talk with Avdol and Kakyoin, you came to a new found realization.
You had feelings for Jotaro.
And he (even if he didn't recognize it yet) probably had them for you, too.
Isn't that great? At the very last leg of the journey, you just had to figure that out. It couldn't have been way earlier, or even better, not have happened at all. If things weren't bad between you and Jotaro before, they certainly were now. Since that conversation on the submarine, you hadn't spoken to him. Not a word. No remarks, no insults, no arguments. Perhaps in a different universe, you would have been grateful. This is what you wanted, right? To not have him constantly bother you, make you angry, or otherwise agitated. Peace at last.
Yet, you felt anything but.
As you made your way through Cairo's bustling marketplace, you occasionally side eyed Jotaro. His gaze was transfixed ahead, but he seemed almost unaware, like he was in his own world. Polnarref was babbling on about stories from his homeland, Joseph eagerly listening. Avdol, who was walking next to you, appeared to be surveying the area for any possible enemies.
Without Kakyoin, you mostly kept to yourself. He was the person you communicated with the most out of all of them. Man, you wished he was here. Talking to him was always so easy, you could freely spill whatever was going through your head. And oh, did you really need that right now. There were so many thoughts buzzing around your brain like a swarm of mosquitos, you needed to get at least some of them out or else you would probably go insane.
Abruptly, the crew stopped at a random vendor. Things like juicy fruits filled the carts, and a red umbrella provided cool shade for both them and the shopkeeper. They looked delicious, perfect for an empty stomach. Joseph approached the man, and attempted to speak to him in broken Arabic. Poor man looked so confused. He absolutely did not get a word Joseph was saying. Saving Joseph (and by extension everyone else), Avdol luckily ended up getting so annoyed that he took over.
"I could have handled that, Avdol!" Joseph grumbled.
Not bothering to respond yet, Avdol finished buying the fruits for everyone. "I have no doubt, Mr. Joestar." His voice dropped with sarcasm.
Apples, bananas, and cherries. That's what he ended up getting. For a moment, seeing the plump, ripe cherries specifically made you think of Kakyoin, and you got a sudden urge to buy somethingβa trinket, a gift, a presentβfor him. Was it necessary? Maybe not. Arguably it would slow everyone down. But it's not like being ruled by your impulses every once in awhile ever hurt anyone.
"Alright," Joseph began, "I think that's enough time spent in the market place today." He pulled out the photo of Dio's suspected lair. "No one seemed to recognize this place at all. We should start getting going to the hotel-"
"-Is it okay if I walk around a little longer?"
A raised eyebrow pulled at Joseph's aging features. "You sure, sweetheart? Danger lurks around every corner, an enemy stand user could ambush you y'know-"
"I'll be able to handle myself." You cut him off firmly. You knew he meant well, but really, you'd be fine.
"Why do you even wanna stay here?" Polnarref questioned, his eyes darting from you to the surroundings. "Not like there's anything interesting. Plus, it stinks."
"It does not smell that bad." Avdol sighed.
"Yes it does!"
"Look," Avdol turned to you, completely ignoring Polnarref, "If you want to keep exploring, that's fine. But I do want someone to go with you. Mr. Joestar is right about the dangers posed when you stay out here by yourself."
Fine. Any one of you guys would get bored shopping with me, but whatever.
"Who's gonna go with her, though?" Polnarref asked, fixing his hair in the process. "Sorry, ma choupinette, but I'm quite tired and want to get to the hotel to relax." He quickly placed his pointer finger on the tip of his nose. "Not it."
Avdol scoffed. "And here I thought you claimed to be a gentleman."
"Hey now!" Feigning offense, Polnarref frowned before replacing it with an easy grin, "All that matters is someone goes with her, right?"
Barely audible, Avdol muttered "Unbelievable."
"As much as I'd prefer to, I won't be able to go with you. There's still some searching I have to do with Dio's lair. Someone at the hotel might recognize it." Joseph explained.
Well, that only left Avdol. Probably the best out of the your presented options.
"I had to help Mr. Joestar with that aswell. However, I'm willing to put that off for another time-"
"I'll go."
A deep voice, a familiar one you hadn't heard in quite awhile, popped up. When considering your options, your brain conveniently opted himβJotaroβout.
"You're all busy. And it's not like I have anything planned." Leaving no room for debate, Jotaro gruffly repeated himself, "I'll go."
Everyone simultaneously gave Jotaro a confused look. It was one thing for him to willingly volunteer for something. It's another when said thing he's volunteering for is keeping you company.
Keeping company. With you.
He must have noticed the look everyone was giving him, because he narrowed his eyes and brusquely muttered, "Is that a problem?"
"No, no not at all!" Joseph waved his hands. "It's just surprising seeing my grandson uh... stepping up for once."
"The hell is that supposed to mean?"
"What Mr. Joestar is trying to say-" Avdol side eyed him before giving Jotaro a considerate smile, "-Is thank you."
Jotaro adjusted his hat and nodded.
He started making his way to leave, but you stayed stuck in place like a deer in headlights. Still astonished by what just happened. And also, processing the fact that you would have to spend one on one time with the man you had been actively avoiding for the past week. Jotaro craned his head and gave you a cool, icy glare. "Good grief, are you coming or not?"
"Y-yeah." You gave the rest of the crew a quick smile, before you departed and walked side by side with Jotaro.
The walk around the marketplace was as awkward as you expected it to be (at least on your side). Jotaro, never being much of a talker, kept his mouth shut, and followed you around like a lost dog while you aimlessly searched for a nice gift to give Kakyoin. Minutes turned into three hours as you continued your search. Yet, still, you couldn't find anything that felt right.
"What are you looking for?"
You hardly heard him, as you were too caught up in your own head that his words ended up not fully registering.
"Hey. I'm talking to you."
When you turned to face him, you swore you saw a flicker of worry, if only for momentarily. "I'm looking for a gift to give Kakyoin."
"A gift?" He squinted his eyes at you, long lashes covering them. "Why?"
Not sure whether Jotaro was being genuine, and actually didn't understand why you would bother gifting Kakyoin somethingβor he simply wanted you to explain yourself, you replied, "Think about that for a few seconds, first. What possible reason would I have to give our, currently injured team member, a nice present?"
Instead of barking back with a remark or insult, Jotaro stared at you in thought. "Because you have a crush on him?"
Completely taken a back, you laughed. "Are- are you serious? No! It's because he's my friend and he's currently healing in a hospital. Where the hell did that crush stuff come from?"
"Just thought, since you two were close..."
"No, Jotaro. No." You shook your head for emphasis. "I mean this in the most respectful way possible, but I would never like Kakyoin like that. And I'm sure he feels the same with me."
"I see." Jotaro grunted, "Good to know."
You cocked an eyebrow at him. "Good to know? What do you mean good to-"
Jotaro cut you off, gesturing towards a vendor that had pots surrounding his stand. "Let's look there. He's selling souvenirs. There might be something Kakyoin likes."
Whatever he meant by his previous comment, you could unpack another time. But right now, you were more focused on other, important matters. Like the shopkeepers items, which even from a distance, appeared promising.
"Yeah, yeah. Let's check it out."
Approaching the vendor, you scanned for the perfect gift. You'd ask him questions here and there, trying your best to make your practiced Arabic sound as natural as possible. It wasn't until you got to the amulets that you found it.
When you did, all the other souvenirs were unmatched in your eyes.
It was a long dazzling necklace that held an amulet. An eye, it seemed. Decked out in beautiful vibrant blues and dull grays, it was nothing short of beautiful.
The vendor explained to you that it was the 'Eye of Horus', a god who's eyes got injured but then magically restored. It's said that people who wear this amulet are bestowed with healing powers. But even without the story, you were convinced. This was it. The perfect gift you were searching for.
Price didn't matter to you as you fished out the remaining Egyptian pounds that were in your pockets. You laid them all bare, inviting the shopkeeper to take them. However, to your dismay, the shopkeeper shook his head.
Not enough.
Your heart dropped. You had spent so much time searching, walking beneath the relentless sun as you surveyed and stopped at practically every vendor that was selling items. And for what? For nothing in the end?
Tears started to prickle at your eyes, but before they can spill, Jotaro placed his own money on the table.
"Take it. Or we'll leave."
Despite the language barrier, the shopkeeper got the memo. Frantically, he took the money, and in exchange, gave you the necklace. You weren't even sure if it all that money was enough in total for what he was asking, but you didn't care. It was in your hands now, and you could finally mentally check it off your mind.
Making your way back to the hotel (at last) alongside Jotaro was as silent as it was before. But there was a certain difference to the air, a weight that felt lifted. It wasn't awkward or uncomfortable... it... actually felt really pleasant. There was a mutual understanding between you two, one that carried on as you navigated out of the bustling marketplace.
Jotaro took out a cigarette and lit it, the smoke disappearing into the air like your worries. He inhaled it and exhaled, and for a second, you caught yourself staring at his lips. As much as you hated smoking, you can't help the random burst of curiousity to see what the appeal was.
"Can I try?"
He gave you a once over, before stopping to meet your gaze. "No. Smoking is bad for you."
"Then why do you do it?"
Sand crunched beneath his shoes, and Jotaro adjusted his hat before he spoke up. "Helps me stay present."
You nodded, looking away from him and instead opting to stare at the setting sun. A mix of pretty red, yellow, and orange hues. Parts of the sky blocked by the buildings. No clouds in sight. The necklace moved back and forth between your fingers as you fixated in awe at the scenery. You understood. There were many moments where you wished you could stay in them forever, as fleeting as they are. Like now.
When you peeked to see if Jotaro was looking at the sunset too, you instead were met with the unusual sight of him gaping at you. Staring at you like you were as beautiful as the sunset now slowly disappearing into the night. It didn't last long, since he quickly darted his gaze away and pulled his cap down in the process. Yet, the brief sight made you feel fuzzy inside nonetheless.
Too soon, you arrived at the entrance of the hotel. You both stopped, staying in place in front of that door. There was that mutual understanding again, of words unsaid between you two that begged to be set free.
"Thanks, Jotaro. For earlier, I mean."
"No problem." He took out his cigarette, the flickering flames dead as he stomped them out on the ground.
"Could you at least throw that away? There's a trash can literally right there."
He gave you a look. "...Fine."
Actually complying, he picked it up and discarded it in the trash, turning to face you. "Happy?"
"Very." A small smile came over you.
You both stood like that for awhile. Staring at each other not out of hatred, or disgust, but a more recent feeling. Or maybe it was always there, buried beneath.
Admiration.
"You know, Jotaro... I've been thinking lately..." A pause, unsure if you should go on, "Our stands are a representation of our soul, right?"
"Yeah." He said flatly, swallowing.
"So, all those times our stands kissed and did all that lovey dovey crap, you know, do you think it meant... that we...?"
Trailing off, you stared at him, testing the waters. It wasn't like this was one sided (at least, that's what you figured). But this was Jotaro you were talking about. Cool, collected Jotaro who was always too good for anybody. Who was definitely known for wearing his feelings on his sleeve. Had he come to the same realization? Or were you just making a fool of yourself-
Sweat glistened on his forehead, parts of his hair getting stuck to it. He looked panicked, but then his shoulders relaxed. "Yeah."
"Yeah?"
"Yeah." He repeated, a little quieter now.
"Okay." Somehow, you kept eye contact and managed a smile. "Good to know."
And, you see a ghost of one on his own lips, too.
Pulled together by unknown forces (or prehaps the work of your stands) you both closed the distance. It was brief, fleeting, and euphoric. His surprisingly soft lips lingered of smoke and sweat from the heat. Really, you couldn't count it as a kiss. More like a peck than anything.
Then, it's over. Almost as if never happened, you both retreated, staring into one another like you did before.
Jotaro quickly pulled his cap over his eyes, and you could see the embarrassment flooding his cheeks. "Good grief. Stop gawking at me and get inside."
A suppressed giggle escaped you. "Right. The others are probably worried."
As you entered inside, the chilly air washing over you like a morning breeze, you smiled to yourself.
At least now, you wouldn't need stands to communicate your feelings for each other.
Not anymore.

A/N: PHEW! If you managed to get to the end of this HIIII. I honestly got rlly carried away with the idea.
Also, sorry yall if the last entry feels a bit rushed, I honestly just wanted to finish this LMAO. Plus I felt like Jotaro was a bit OOC (especially for the first part with Anne cuz honestly I could never see him saying that. But I just needed something to start the fic off)
ANYWAYS hope y'all enjoyed! ^^ More JJBA stuff to come y'all... there is more to come ππ
TAGS: GN!reader, fluff, uhm, this was very low stakes, this is lowkey just a ref for myself, just wanted to put something out while I get the other stuff ready :))

Ohhmy god. Yes you should do your Kakyoin idea PLEASE. I love him and slow burn stuff. I need more content of him since the only recognition he gets (spoilers) in the fandom is being a donut.
Anyway this isnt really important butttttt I love Otacon and Naked Snake. Otacon doesn't get that much attention though so I might just start writing for him myself.
- Otanon
YESS I love him too he deserves sm more appreciation. I also noticed there isn't that much slowburn stuff with him in general so I was like "yk what I should write it myself"
Oughh and don't get me started on ppl who only talk abt the donut joke... He's SM more than that bro π But I'm glad someone is interested in the idea!! :D
BRO I love Otacon too and I completely agree with ya! He doesn't get as much attention unfortunately.. :(( Tbh I wanna write for him more aswell, but go write for him yourself if you have to!! I'd definitely read it hehehe π₯Ή Thats how i started. I saw there wasn't a lot of mgs reader inserts in general and I decided that should change ^^
EDIT: I am gonna do it! I just deleted the og post cuz I wanna make sure that when it eventually comes out it's more of a surprise c:
TAGS: GN!reader, fluff, platonic, crack(?), hc's is during the 80s-90s, this is silly and for fun don't take it too serious
A/N: I think they'd be good friends (if not for Dio) Its a shame there isn't much content of themππ

How they're like
Being friends with Kakyoin and Telence meant a few things
One, you got to get your hands on all the latest games
Two, you got free snacks any time you went over to either of their houses
All sounds pretty sweet right?
BUT, three, in exchange for all of this, you had to put up with the absolute NONSENSE that came from these two on a daily basis
Telence and Kakyoin and practically polar opposites
While Kakyoin is typically pretty calm when playing a game, Telence is the textbook definition of a ragequitter. And I meant that he WILL quit at the SLIGHTEST inconvenience
He could die to a boss fight ONCE, and call it a day
"That's it! This stupid game is rigged!"
Meanwhile, Kakyoin is more of a trial and error kinda guy. He will preserve and try his best to get past whatever obstacle he is facing (but he definitely still has a breaking point)
You all would often go to arcades to play, laughing and yelling in excitement as you jumped from one game to the next
Favorite games
Although they both enjoy games of all kind, they do have preferred genres
Kakyoin enjoys RPGS, prefering games with a story in general. Telence enjoys more competitive genres like sports or racing that force you to really focus in order to win
However, they do both bond over their shared love of fighting games. Whether it's Street Fighter (1987), Guilty Gear (1998), Mortal Kombat (1992), etc.
Telence loves going overboard with combos, but Kakyoin would have a better understanding of how the game actually works, and how to utilize inputs to his advantage instead of repeating a deadly combo
Kakyoin's all time favorite game is Final Fantasy 7 (1997). Which, Telence actually hates. "It's overrated" as he says. But he only really says it to ragebait Kakyoin
Telence favorite is Daytona USA (1994), though, so it's not like you can trust his taste much anyway
Consoles + PC
Telence hates HATES PC gaming and anything to do with it. If you or Kakyoin were to even SUGGEST trying out something like Sim City 2000 (2003), or hell even something acclaimed as Doom (1993), he would FREAK and go on an hour long tangent about how it sucks and how much cooler consoles are
"Consoles are 100% better in every single way!"
(Wait until he finds out the state of them these days...)
Kakyoin and him regularly get into disagreements over this. Not just with that, but also with which specific consoles are the best in general
Kakyoin is a D1 N64 glazer. Even if he's ashamed that Final Fantasy 7 (1997) never ended up releasing on it, he will defend it with his LIFE
"All the greats are on the N64. You know I'm telling the truth!"
But, Telence believes all the greats are on none other than PlayStation. He does NOT play when it comes to it
shaming and making fun of people for still engaging in fandom activities once they reach a certain age is so embarrassing because why are you giving yourself an expiration date of time you have fun? why are you not-so-indirectly saying you will stop having fun once you reach a certain age? or do you really believe you have to stop engaging in fandom activities and having fun once you turn (x)? do you not think you will, what, live that long and turn that age too? do you think fun will suddenly stop for you and life will all of a sudden lose its meaning once you reach a certain age? how sad to be giving yourself an hourglass and just waiting for your time of having fun to run out.
adults can and should engage in fandom activities if it's what makes them happy.
adults can and should continue doing whatever they like doing as teenagers if it's what makes them happy.
age is just... part of life. it's a part of me and it's a part of you. shaming people for something you will have to go through (unless you don't think you will live that long) is such a loser behavior. indirectly saying you will stop having fun once you reach a certain age isn't the flex you think it is. it doesn't make you look "cool and edgy", it makes you look miserable.
i love making friends in fandom, i love playing with our toys together, i love coming up with increasingly niche aus, i love lifting strangers up, i love motivating people to create, i love watching someone get excited over an idea and immediately running with it, i love yelling in tags together, i love seeing someone gain confidence in their writing/art because people were kind to them <33
