Truly wild to think it has been so long!! Thank you so much for your continued care and passion for this story, this world, and these characters.
The entirety of ‘Lovely Little Losers’ (and NMTD) is captioned in English for your viewing pleasure.
Ngā mihi,

Skam France
It's been slow here (school break and sickness combined bleh) so I decided to give in and watch Skam France finally. Well s3 anyway. I'm on episode 3 and here are my thoughts so far (bear in mind that I have literally only watched Skam and Druck so far so those are my frames of reference):
I very much like Lucas. He seems much softer than Isak and more engaged in his life than Matteo and I'm enjoying the new take on the character. He'll never overtake Matteo in my affections but I like this vibe. I really like that he genuinely seems to be happy to help the girls with the common room. It's a nice change.
Alexia is fabulous. She's probably my favourite Chris (apart from the original and even then she may be close to neck and neck) and I love the bi storyline for her, and liked that the 'telling off' of Chloe for being homophobic was her rather than the Even character this time. I also really really like Daphne who is much less irritating than either Vilde or Kiki were at this point. I grew to appreciate the other two a lot, but at this point I was so annoyed by them (probably because both Isak and Matteo were). Imane is also brilliant (loved the tampon thing). So consider me properly taken with this girl squad so far.
Elliot seems... interesting. Like, he hasn't been in it so much but he has a nice energy. I'm looking forward to getting to know him better.
I do not like the boy squad. Arthur is the best of them but he's still not doing it for me. Yann seems very distanced and not much involved with Lucas which feels weird considering that they're supposed to be best friends? Right? And ugh Basile. He's just ... yeah I don't like him. He's as offensive as magnus but without the charm. I hope they don't actually put Daphne with him or if they do that he does some major growing up first. Her reactions to him are some of my favourite; she's so exasperated by his childishness.
I am enjoying the little differences between this and the original. It feels like it's much closer than Druck was, but it does have its own little moments which are its own and that's super fun. I'm interested to see where it's going to go.
Adding episodes 4-6:
Oof it's getting really not-nice for Lucas hmm. I really really didn't like the way his flatmates talked about him being 'not really' part of them. I get that his rent hasn't been as regular etc, but we see him trying to reach his father about it and that seemed really harsh. Also making him sleep on the couch seemed not very nice. So tbh when we had the 'gay gay' conversation I wasn't as taken aback by what Mika said than I was with either Eskild or Hans. The relationship wasn't there and so this just felt like more of the same way Lucas has always been treated by this character.
This first kiss scene was a bit creepy. Like, I don't know if we're supposed to think of it as charming or something, but I found Elliot to be ... unsettling ... here. And not in a good way. I dunno. There are moments when the way he is with Lucas is very cute and there are others where I feel like he's quite creepy. I'm still on the fence about him. I definitely don't feel the same tension between fragility and assurance we had with Even.
Lucas continues to charm me. The actor has a very appealing puppy-ish quality which is really nice, and the way he looks at Elliot; he's so smitten and it's very cute. I think he acts very well and does a lot with this much more depressing version we have. The 'crazy' comment did hit hard though
The 'walking into school through the gauntlet' scene is much harsher here too, though it appears to be more of an anxiety dream than reality. But then Chloe is really harsh too - I understand that she's angry, hurt and feeling betrayed, but telling him she can make up whatever she likes about him and tell anyone? yeah, this outing is worse than either of the other two and they were both bad enough.
The girls continue to delight me. Daphne is glorious, Manon seems very cool and I really really like that Lucas seems more happy to help and interact with them than Isak did. They seem very nice, very fun and like a great set of friends. I'd like it if he keeps hanging with them. I don't know where this meeting with the sales guy came from but it's fun and I enjoyed this little moment with them. I also like what I'm seeing of Lucas and Manon's relationship; they feel like very nice supportive friends. Which Lucas needs.
Which brings me to this thing with Yann. I said before he doesn't seem as tight with Lucas, like i don't really feel they're best friends (this is possibly partly because I haven't seen s1 and 2, but I also hadn't for either Skam or Druck and those boys still felt like friends) - and this reaction to him coming out? No. No thank you. In a sea of crap, this is supposed to be a lovely moment for Isak/Matteo/Lucas. A moment where they know their best friend has their back and they're ok even if everything else is shit. And this just wasn't. Like I get that Lucas is basically saying he's told everyone but Yann (like he hasn't but I can see where he could get that idea from this ramble) but still... shitty way to act particularly when he was all 'you have to talk to us' Anyway, I didn't like this ending. I can't imagine what this must have been like to watch live with no chance of clicking the next episode.
And now episodes 7-10
This episode 7 was (mostly) really wonderful. I don't usually cry at stuff, but I did when Lucas feels so alone and so broken and so devastated by everything happening around him. His flatmates were wonderful in this instance (makes me wish they'd been better in other episodes). It was just a really powerful scene - probably one of the best I've seen in all Skam. It's up there with Skam's 'you are not alone' scene and the hotel scene and Druck's moment where David comes out to Matteo, among others.
I wasn't a huge fan of the 'let's show you we know you're gay without saying it' scene with Arthur and Basile, but I did appreciate the stuff with Yann. It felt a little low key for how devastated Lucas was, and I still don't like the change in episode 6 but overall it was good. It was nice to see some actual conversation between them and it was good that Yann acknowledged that it might be something with him that made Lucas unwilling to open up.
I still really love Lucas as a character but I'm on the fence about Elliot. He's come some way but I think maybe the issue is that he was 'creepy' and 'mysterious' for a bit too long before we got all this ending stuff. I've seen gifs etc of the later seasons and I know he gets more endearing, but I dunno. He's not my fave here, despite Lucas being so clearly head over heels infatuated with him. It did make the manic episode scene less impactful imo - I just don't have the same connection to him as I did to Even and so while I can see Lucas feeling really disturbed by this strange conversation, it doesn't feel any different to the first kiss stuff for example.
I haven't really talked about the aesthetics much because tbh I prefer the palettes etc of Skam and Druck, but some of the shots in this section were beautiful. There's one in the common room after they find the 'ass' on the wall that was particularly lovely. The blues maybe?
I really like the emphasis on Lucas's other relationships - particularly with the girls. The moments he shares with Manon in particular are really beautiful. They're two hurting, fragile people who make good connections together. Manon appeals to me more than either Noora or Mia as well. There's something vulnerable about her that I feel was missing from the others. Charles sounds like a prize asshole though. I always dislike this character so maybe that's not a shock. Overall, I think it's fascinating that I like the scenes and relationships that are added more than the ones from the og. It feels like they add depth and nuance to the characters. This scene where Elliot describes his illness to Lucas is probably the highlight of his character - apart from when they hang out the first time and he watches Lucas play piano.
Biggest takeaway - I love Lucas and Daphne, and Manon to a lesser extent and I'm glad I met them. I still don't think Basile is really great but he does appear to have grown up a bit and so he's starting to be ok for Daphne. She is the biggest win for me in this whole season. I really really like her and her crusade. She's fab. This isn't my favourite version but there were some really great parts to it which I enjoyed so over all I'm glad I watched it. I really appreciate that even more so than og Skam, it places an emphasis on other parts of life - other friendships than just your bros and your boyfriend. And the very final scene was lovely and a really nice ending.
For all the skam fans who watch only season 3 and will be tuning in now that season 3 of SRAM is airing next there’s a couple things you should know first -
Croatias version of Isak, Lovro, is a skaterat with a dyed blue mullet who does molly.
He is also like surprisingly fun so far for an Isak.. he loves to party and is super friendly and welcoming to people.
We love him very much.

I've been strolling down nostalgia lane for the last two days and finally fetched up watching NMTD and LLL again. It's been literal years and yet here I am feeling all the feelings and remembering how it was when it all was going live and how the waiting was always so much.
Some things still bugged me but overall it was a nice time and I remembered how much I love most of the characters, particularly Peter, Hero and my beloved Balthy. Maybe I need to go looking for fic to read again...
